imacken Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Please see attached grabs of a psd file in both Photoshop and AP beta. Opening the file in AP is unusable. Should I expect more, or is this the best that can be done?
Jonas14 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hi imacken, Be honest, I do not understand your problem. Have your posted file is opened in the AP beta and can no deviation notice ... or I'm blind. www.donath-photographie.eu
imacken Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Sorry Jonas14, but I think you are blind! haha! The whole of the right hand side text box is missing, and the text in several places is either missing or has overlapped! (Not sure what your attachment shows!)
anon1 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I think he opened your jog and didn't see a difference ....
Staff MEB Posted November 11, 2015 Staff Posted November 11, 2015 Hi imacken, You should be able to retrieve the missing text as well. Can you attache the psd file here or send it to me trough PM so we can check it out? Thanks. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
imacken Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Ah, I see! I can't see how to attach a file in a PM - how do I do it? The file is too big to upload here - 30Mb. Thanks a lot!
Staff MEB Posted November 11, 2015 Staff Posted November 11, 2015 It's not possible to attach it to a PM. You have to send me a Dropbox, Google Drive or similar link. Sorry for not being clear. I can setup an upload page if you don't use any of those services. Just let me know. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
imacken Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Hi MEB, I've just sent you a link via PM. Thanks
Jonas14 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Sorry, sorry, I can already see the difference between the two images, but if the original is missing ..., because MEB is now privy to the secret, he will surely tell us more ...? www.donath-photographie.eu
Staff MEB Posted November 11, 2015 Staff Posted November 11, 2015 Thanks for the file, @imacken. Seems some elements are incorrectly being placed outside the canvas and thus invisible. You can check this easily if you change the document size. Issue logged to be looked at. @Jonas14 Some users may want or need to keep the original files private due to copyright issues or non-disclosure agreements. That's the reason we offer an alternative way for the user to send files privately besides the public attachment. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
imacken Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Hi MEB. Thanks again. Not sure what you mean. In PS, the canvas size is 54.29x37.99 cms, the same as the document size. How is the whole document showing OK in PS? I'm confused!
Jonas14 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 MEB thanks, for this information, I have no problem with the secretiveness, I guess that is not the secretiveness, but quite simply the file size. But back to serious things! www.donath-photographie.eu
Staff MEB Posted November 11, 2015 Staff Posted November 11, 2015 Hi imacken, The document size is the same. The issue is that Affinity Designer is placing some elements/layers incorrectly outside that area. Since Affinity hides everything that's not inside the document (the white canvas) you can't see the missing elements. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Staff Ben Posted November 11, 2015 Staff Posted November 11, 2015 Ok - I've had a look at the original file. The Metadata claims that the file was created by "Adobe Photoshop CC 2022 (Macintosh)" - so I'm guessing that this file was not created in Photoshop, but a third party app? Unless you are a time traveller....!? What app wrote this file? Either way - the file does not look like it conforms to the current PSD file standard - our importer is throwing up lots of errors while parsing the file in debug. Text especially is showing lots of errors. I tried opening the file in Photoshop and saving it out again, and we can open the new file just fine, so it looks like Photoshop is happy to fix the problems. The released MAS and Beta versions will still open the file, but the errors will be present. I'll hand it on to our Text department to see if there is anything that can be done to fix the errors while we import. anon1 1 SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB

I am not a Time Traveller and hence I had nothing to do with the file's creation! I just downloaded. Issue still stands, though! Thanks for looking into it. Yes, saving it in PS and reloading works well.
