It is difficult for anyone to advise you, if you do not even write how the tool works and how you expect it to work. Pixel layer? John Rostron
Hello @Dr Paul, and welcome to the forums. First, ensure that you have a (Pixel) layer selected. Click on the Clone Tool in the panel on the left. (Windows) Hold down the Alt key and click on your source area (or the Option key on a Mac). Click on your target area and drag or paint. The pixels under the cursor will be copied from the source area to the target area. By the way, it helps to use a meaningful title for your post such as "Problem using the Clone Tool". Also: As the tool is the Clone Brush Tool, it may be helpful to open the Brushes panel and make sure you have selected a brush from the Basic section. Perhaps one of the Round brushes, as opposed to a Soft Round brush. If you have some other kind of brush selected you may get unexpected results. Old Bruce
You need to have a Pixel layer selected, and the area you are cloning from has to be not transparent, and make sure you don't have an active selection made (the marching ants outline) Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.
