Affinity Publisher - strange colors in table - what is the problem?

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

I'm working on an Affinity Publisher document with tables. They have black outlines, the cells are white and some are grey. I did everything the same on all my tables, but there is a difference in how they look. The left table seems to be matte, the color is toned down, like there is a non-white overlay or something.

I checked the colors of the cells on both tables. They are the same. #000000, #FFFFFF and #E7E8E9.

What may be the problem there?

If you didn’t deliberately set the Opacity to 70% then you may have accidentally pressed the “7” key.
The numeric keys, by default, are set as keyboard shortcuts to change the opacity of the selected layer (e.g. the “7” key, by itself, is set to give the selected layer 70% Opacity; or you can quickly type, for example, 49 to set a 49% Opacity).
These shortcuts are easy to activate by accident – e.g. you think you are entering a value in an input field when the field is not active – so you might want to remove those shortcuts if you think they will cause problems for you in the future.

Edit: As R C-R points out below, you cannot remove the transparency keyboard shortcuts. Silly me.

Thank you GarryP, that's good to know. I bet that's what happened. I didn't know those shortcuts so I didn't know where to look to fix it. But I'm a little wiser now :)

How do you remove those shortcuts? At least in the Mac versions they are basked into the UI. This I think is because regular shortcuts cannot include more than one regular key, so for example "49" would not work to set 49% opacity if they were regular editable shortcuts.
