Protect PDF files with password

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The only reason I may end up needing Acrobat Pro for, once Publisher does all I need as an editor, would be protecting the generated PDF files.

I usually have to protect my PDF files from editing. In some cases, I may also be asked to protect them from copying the content. Also, I have to do this while still keeping them compatible with visually-impaired reading systems.

It would be great if Publisher could simply save password-protected PDF files, with the various options activated depending on the degree of protection required.

An extension to this: some publishers of digital books as PDF files protect their books with an online authorization system by Adobe. Maybe this would be the place to also include this type of protection.

The link leads to a generic search on password protection. Care to tell something more about it?

I think it was meant as a hint that your request has come up before. If you check the top of the parent forum where you will find (with my emphasis)

f you have any suggestions about how to make our apps better, please post them here. We read every idea which is posted, and in fact since launching Affinity we have added 100s of new features and improvements based on customer feedback

Just a few things to bear in mind:

  • Please search first, it may well be that you have a suggestion that others also want. If so add your feelings to their thread.

Thanks Walt.

I will add - from the searched posts, the reaction of Serif, which knows about the requirement for PDF protection, is also clear and plans to implement them (of course, as always, without setting a deadline).

It is therefore unnecessary to "re-request" something that is already registered. Just add new information to this existing request.

Walt, the fact that I may have searched the forum (and elsewhere) without finding an answer to my specific question can be kept in consideration?

The questions I could find deal with total protection of PDF files. I'm asking for a more granular type of protection, and as of now I can't say I’ve found answers on this. The only answer I can find is to use Acrobat Pro, but this is exactly what I stated I want to stop doing.

That's why I've put you in a Google search link that gives you more relevant results when searching the Affinity Forum.

An ideal case to supplement / specify an existing requirement.
