larsh
Hi, I try to have a small JPG (or other format) with good characters in serif. What I got: with Athelas (I tried others), JPG (or PNG, TIF) highest quality, bilinear, 100%, in 420 px (72 dpi) is this: (the pic is ok) Is there a better way, please? Alfred
Text on a solid background always has artefacts in JPEG format, even at 100% quality. It happens because there’s a sharp transition between the text and the background, but it looks particularly bad here. larsh 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)

larsh
I didn´t know SVG, but I need one to set the 420 px. May be I tried them all now. I hoped – don´t know what – another character could do it... May be not to use italic would make it a little better, or black color. Ok, thanks, it is not a very big problem. larsh
Hi, the PNG and TIF are not very different to JPG (no characters in GIF); may be last one is a little little better (I can´t load the TIF her). PNG and TIF have one Problem more: they don´t show the background of the page as the JPG does. This could be changed but the characters are not better. It is, I think, a simple problem: the 420 px pic is to small. The base is a 30 x 30 cm page, the characters are 24 and 20 pt, and I need in a HTM the small pic. So I hoped to find character which are not pixels in the pics, what is not possible in JPG, but lines or somewhat. I tried, before I asked here, to make the pics bigger (840 px) and then to bring them to 420 px in the HTM, but that does not work better as the 420 px way. So, it is only my own Homepage for a smartphone, and not the outside is very importend but my photographies 16 x 24 cm inside in a PDF. That´s why I make books with AffPub to see them in another way, then in Capture, and so they are (sometimes) printed on the right pages (120 or so). Only to see the colors... The 420 px problem, you see, ist very small, a little bit only to learn AffPub. Thx. lars Quote all Aff 2.2: Capture One+ 23 pro; MacBook Pro, OSX 10.15.7, Fuji X-Pro2
