Custom Brush Textures - Recommend For Beginners?

Hi All,

I just got an email about a sale (50%) on custom brush sets - so I figured what the heck, I'll get some.  I was overwhelmed with the number of choices.

I'm a total beginner and don't often free-draw.  Can anyone recommended some 'staples' that most people would find useful?  Nothing too niche that I might not use?

If you are just looking for texture brushes I thought Frankentoon's Textures A-D were  available as a freebie/add on..not sure whether that this is still the case!..

If you wanted to try commercial sets...The new or newer sets look impressive especially The Rusty Nib Distressed inking Brush Set and The Shizzle pack (as it's not just brushes!) but would also give you some ideas of what you can achieve at the same time

As @telemax has indicated there are a lot of free brushes available in resources...have a look around there I am sure there is something you will find useful.. I put together a list of the ones I use regularly for texturing below. Saves trawling through a lot of brush sets.
