Shermie Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 When opening an image, the default measurement in the Units dropdown is pixels, and I don't believe there is a way to change that default. I need to work in inches. I can't batch process photos to a particular size before opening the images individually, because I work with groups of images of varying sizes and resolutions, so I have to evaluate and alter each image's size and resolution individually. This means that after opening each photo, I must first change the Units measurement to inches. It would be immensely helpful to eliminate that step by being able to choose a different default for the Units measurement. Quote
harrym Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Yet another example of where sticky settings or preferences would resolve a usability issue. PaulEC 1 Quote
Shermie Posted March 2, 2021 Author Posted March 2, 2021 Yes, exactly! Thank you for the big picture handshake. Quote
VJS Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 This is still an issue with v1.10.6. Why? It should have been fixed way before this. Quote
Girlvsworld Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Yes I find this frustrating as well. Great that I have to divide by dpi all the time, I love adding that extra step to my workflow! Quote

Why/when do you divide by DPI? Why not just right-click on the Ruler and change the units? Or change the units in the Context Toolbar, since the View Tool is the default tool for Photo? Girlvsworld Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 I’m on an iPad. I realize this is the desktop forum but it’s the same for ipad. Having a default unit and not having to change it all the time (especially having to work with a lot of files) would be better. Quote

Capn Mike Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Even though I have changed the units from pixels to inches (after choosing the zoom tool snd selecting inches), when I then proceed to export the photo, the file settings are still in pixels. How can resize in inches? Quote

You can specify inches in the size fields, and Affinity will recalculate the pixels for you. Make sure you have the aspect ratio locked and you'll only have to specify one measurement. E.g., if Width says "3480 px" you could type "11 in" into the field. But you can't get it to display inches there.
