Peter Mihaere
I am creating a publisher document and typed the word management. Problem is the "gem" glyph, which I don't want. Can someone tell me how to turn this off. I've tried a few things to no avail. I will never want the gem glyph so would prefer to delete it if I can. Thanks. Alfred
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Peter. I don’t have that particular font installed here, but what you’re seeing is almost certainly the result of the ‘Contextual Alternates’ OpenType feature being enabled. You can disable it via the Typography section in the Character panel. walt.farrell
Thanks. In that font (Font Awesome 5 Free Regular) the character sequence "gem" has a ligature form that provides that symbol. If you're using that font, you'll need to turn off the standard ligatures if you do not want that symbol. You can do that in the Character Panel, Typography options: Alfred, stokerg and Peter Mihaere 2 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. kenmcd
What I am trying to figure-out is why someone would use Font Awesome as a text font. 🙃 walt.farrell and MikeW
