The new update (1.9) is great, but the addition of a resource manager has changed the default behaviour of Designer. Prior to this when I chose a Print Ready preset the resources were always embedded, now it defaults to linked. I don't need to reduce my file sizes, and I don't want to keep track of resources in a folder somewhere. I'd actively avoided starting work in Publisher because of this behaviour, I'd open a file weeks later and everything is missing from it, and now Designer does it too.

So a simple request, please add a checkbox somewhere in preferences to always embed resources.

Thanks MEB, yeah I'm aware of that option... don't always remember to hit it when I'm working to a deadline, and really bites me in the ass a few weeks later. I'd just like to be able to set a default, same as Adobe Illustrator.

You can make your own Preset, with the setting you prefer, and remember to use that Preset.

Or you can create a Template, with the setting you prefer, and remember to use that Template.

Me too. I suppose the point is that the software design defaults to the dangerous (ie losing work) mode. It's like a car where the brake pedal defaults to opening the sunroof unless you remember to press the ALT key at the same time
