TonyMoss
Just started working through the projects in the new Publisher Workbook. Placed the contents of the Root Box Brochure.docx file onto the pasteboard as instructed, but it is not visible until the resulting frame is dragged over a defined page area. This is the case whether the Clip to Canvas setting is On or Off. (i.e. This setting is totally ineffective - it seems to be always On.) Very disappointing to find such a problem so early in the project --- makes me fearful for what may be to come! Such a shame in what is otherwise a magnificent application. walt.farrell
Strange. It's visible for me. Here's a screenshot of it on the Dark UI: And here's the Light UI: Both with Clip to Canvas off, but even with it on the bounding box and the red squiggles for spell checking are visible. Where on the Pasteboard did you place it? The text won't be visible unless you place it to the right or left of a spread, as the areas above/below the spread are not really part of that spread's pasteboard. Note: I did not do this following the directions in the book, as my copy is in my studio in another building at the moment. This was with a simple new document, but Placing the Root Box Brochure .docx file. The first quick thing to check is whether or not you are viewing in Preview Mode. If so, you will see nothing that is outside of the page. The menu View>Preview Mode should be unchecked if you want to see things on the pasteboard. walt.farrell

Unchecking Clip to Canvas seems to automatically also deactivate Preview Mode. So there might be another issue if TonyMoss experiences that Clip to Canvas "is totally ineffective" / "always On". And vice versa preview mode activates clip-to-canvas. Note: an active Preview Mode hides pasteboard items AND bleed – whereas ClipToCanvas keeps the bleed visible in both of its settings. So, if it still doesn't work and you want to investigate further set a bleed area for your document + activate bleed guides, they will appear as a gray line around your pages in the set distance. (Unfortunately in case you have adjusted the pasteboard gray then bleed guides can be invisible if both grays are too similar) Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
TonyMoss
Many thanks to all for your responses. I did check the Preview Mode (still make the mistake of leaving that engaged from time to time), but in fact it was walt.farrell who resolved it for me. I had placed the Root Box Brochure text below the spread. Moving it to the left of the spread made the text visible. I now understand that the pasteboard isn't a global area for all spreads! We live and learn .... Thanks again, all. Tony walt.farrell and Jon P 1
PJewell
Turn off "Clip to Canvas" under View in the menu, and content will show on the paste board.
