thomaso
What order is applied here when "Name" is selected? None of the resource file names starts with a space, so I wonder what influences their order here? v801 resource manager - strange order.m4v Also, would it be possible in the Details area to prevent the dimension/unit and the profile name from getting cropped? For instance simply by starting the entire text block more left? sfriedberg 1 macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
PeterB.
@thomaso can it be that PDF files are listed alphabetically first? And then all the other files. Maybe it has something to do with the new PDF passthrough option.

thomaso
Another sample, now with a entirely new and simple v801 .afpub. The layers panel shows the placing order (bottom to top), the Manager shows its state after opening. No layout changes were done, neither in the document nor the Manager. It seems the two files with "C..." (capital C) are ordered in the Manager above the others – but compare the video above, where the file "2..." is ordered between "I..." and "R...", and the "t..." between two "p...". Also, in this screenshot another UI issue occurs: cropped content in the DPI column – while the columns for "OK" and "123" appear designed in a width with wasted space. macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
Staff Gabe Posted November 5, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 5, 2020 Hi all, @thomaso I can't replicate the sort issue in the latest beta. Can you? I've logged the cropped issue.
thomaso
Hi @Gabe, (I haven't tried in v822) unfortunately in v829 the alphabetical order is still confused. Here the .afpub of my initial post above – now opened in v829: And a new .afpub created in v829: I placed all files with the Place Tool in 1 go, selected in the finder set to alphabetical order. Note that the last alphabetical file ("thermomix") became placed before the penultimate ("lightb_PSO") but they appear in correct order in the RM. So in this sample only the two first items in the RM aren't in alphabetical order ("Cumulus", "Roter"). macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
Staff Gabe Posted November 6, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 6, 2020 Any chance you can attach the afpub/package file please?
thomaso
I hadn't saved the .afpub above, so I recreated it. Now the placing order was alphabetically (as set for placing selection in the finder window), I tried twice but the wrong order of the last two files did not happen again. Again the same two files are out of order in the RM and appear at the top ("Cumulus", "Roter"). In case it might be related to their metadata: As far I remember I got these two but also "Birne" + "frischer" (> 3x fruits + 1x cloud) initially via the Stock panel within APub. v829 res-mgr alphabetical order.afpub macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
Staff Gabe Posted November 6, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 6, 2020 It looks like uppercase letters are not sorted along with lowercase letters. Issue logged.
thomaso
27 minutes ago, Gabe said: uppercase letters Good catch! – But I am afraid this is not the only culprit here. Can you look'n'log for numbers + file types, too? – Numbers seem to appear anywhere in the alphabetical order (I > 2 > R). – Possibly file types influence the order, too (pdf?) – PDF (?) appears with a different thumbnail size which may give the wrong impression of file names starting with a space. macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
