Affinity Photo numerical transformation

Recommended Posts

To resize a frame-text to precise values I use the transformation panel and edit the required values. To keep the aspect ratio I can connect dx and dy value. This works fine and is understood. Regretfully this only covers the resize functionality of the framed box - not resizing the text as well (what I would do with the outbound transformation point outside the bottom right corner). Is there a way to numerically use this resize function that resize the text inside the box as well?

Cheers, Timo

Combined together with a size transformation via the transformation panel, AFAIK no. Via the transformation panel you can actually only adjust the text frame sizes, but that operation is then uncombined to a applied text/font size change inside the text frame. Meaning the text will not be resized together in size then accordingly here.

Yes, but it's incredibly boring and far quicker just to use the outside/extra handle on the text frame whilst monitoring the transform panel to get the final text frame size you want

Just for interest - maybe Serif will notice and fix it.

If you use the Move Tool to resize the text box beyond the any corner, there is no aspect ratio, and as shown in the Status bar, you must press Shift to maintain the aspect ratio. However, if you resize the frame and text using the external handle, the aspect ratio is maintained without pressing Shift - even though this is stated in the Status bar. After pressing Shift, on the other hand, the ratio is not preserved, so the help/description in the Status bar is incorrect.
