Breaking a curve into segments auto-creates new layer

Recommended Posts

The title isn't very good but attached is a video of what I mean.  Multiple shapes (pen tool) drawn *on one layer* => when one of the curves is broken (splitting it to make another shape) to create an 'orphan' section, the node tool in APhoto automatically creates a new layer despite the setting "Add new curve to selected layer" being selected with the pen tool.  The node tool appears to ignore this setting. Clearly the example is trivial, but with complex shapes it's inconvenient as it always entails redrawing the orphan section (at least, I haven't found a way of pasting the orhpan section into the existing layer as a shape).

Hey Subclavius,

I think this is by design.

The Pen Tool is a separate tool and that button is referring to the creating of the curve using the Pen Tool and in no way relates to the Node Tool.

You're looking for Layer > Geometry > Merge Cruves.

I think it was designed that way.
Because this is the only way to separate a segment of the curve.
You can't select a line segment between two points on the curve; you can only select points.
