Aad Slingerland
Greetings, In order to make some tutorioal-like screen recordings I tried Windows 10 Xbox Game Bar to record a movie. Nice but this product does not show application sub-windows like a File Open dialog window or other child windows like a list of adjustement options when I click the Adjustments icon in the Layers panel (for example). I did check this by googling and this behaviour of the Xbox Game Bar screen recording is by design. Then I googled for other screen recording solutions and oh my, there are so many. Free, semi-free and commercial. Instead of evaluating a handfull of them I decided it would be better to ask you… What screen recording software product for windows 10 do you, or did you, use? My goal is to make some straightforward tutorial-like MP4 files. Adding voice and drawing some red circles or arrows would be nice. GarryP
Try OBS Studio: https://obsproject.com/ It’s completely free, with no ads, and is easy to use once you have done a bit of initial set-up. If you have a Windows laptop (especially with an external screen) you may need to do some extra things to be up-and-running (like I did):https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/laptop-black-screen-when-capturing-read-here-first.5965/https://obsproject.com/wiki/Laptop-Troubleshooting Also, try taking the frame rate down, to 30fps or even less, to get smaller videos. For tutorials you don’t need anything like 50/60fps. Note: I've not done any sound recording with it and have not found any annotation tools for it. Someone else may be help with those. telemax
Try Filmora Scrn https://filmora.wondershare.com/screen-recorder/ Perhaps this will relieve the headache. It allows you to select the desired area of the screen. Built-in video editor, allows you to cut and combine the desired parts.
