Alto-Nigraphy Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Hello, Following the recent update to install Windows 10 Professional 2004; Affinity Photo 1.8.3 no longer launches! I uninstalled Affinity Photo to retry a clean installation and the installation does not start. I tried with the compatibility mode (Windows 8) and the administrator mode, nothing works :/ Sorry for my bad english 😅 I speak French Alexandre Quote

Staff Chris B Posted June 7, 2020 Staff Posted June 7, 2020 Hey Alto-Nigraphy, Please review the post Walt posted. I'm watching this thread in case you still have issues. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Alto-Nigraphy Posted June 8, 2020 Author Posted June 8, 2020 Hello, The FAQ didn't really help me. I tested with the compatibility mode with Windows 7 and Windows 8, the installation appears in the taskbar and closes immediately. The administrator mode has the same behavior. I tested with beta 1.8.4 and I get the same result. I better stay in 1909 https://youtu.be/5awlTgOWRZQ Chris B 1 Quote
Staff Chris B Posted June 8, 2020 Staff Posted June 8, 2020 My desktop PC shows the update, however I cannot update it for some reason. I've tried my laptop and that doesn't see it. A colleague managed to queue the update on his laptop so I'll report back once we've got more info. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
PaulAffinity Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 I updated to 2004 (Windows HOME) around 7 days ago or so, Dell Laptop 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 4 GB Radeon... all works fine, used daily since 2004 release, used NIK and TOPAZ plugins too.. P Chris B 1 Quote
Staff Chris B Posted June 8, 2020 Staff Posted June 8, 2020 Thanks Paul. I have just updated too and it's working for me. This is also true of my colleague. @Alto-Nigraphy have you tried rebooting and making sure no other Windows updates are pending? Alto-Nigraphy Posted June 8, 2020 Author Posted June 8, 2020 My computer was restarted several times and I have no updates pending Quote
Staff Chris B Posted June 8, 2020 Staff Posted June 8, 2020 The size of the download looks to be correct. I don't know if you've tried a fresh download but it might be worth a shot:https://store.serif.com/en-gb/update/windows/photo/1/ Also, can you see if the beta has the same issue:https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/115020-affinity-photo-windows-customer-beta-184650/ It might be worth us checking the log too (if there is one). Please open Windows Run (Windows Key + R) then paste the following string and press OK: %temp%\AffinitySetup In the window that opens, please select the most recently created folder, then attach SetupUI.log to your reply here. Alto-Nigraphy Posted June 8, 2020 Author Posted June 8, 2020 I actually have the same problem with beta SetupUI.log Chris B 1 Quote
paro Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 (edited) I have had the same problem and performed the same attempts as Alto-Nigraphy SetupUI.log Edited June 8, 2020 by paro Chris B 1 Quote
Staff Chris B Posted June 8, 2020 Staff Posted June 8, 2020 Thanks for the log files. I have asked development to take a look, I'll report back once I've heard from them. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Staff Chris B Posted June 8, 2020 Staff Posted June 8, 2020 This could potentially be an issue with corrupt colour profiles. Please see this thread from Leigh:https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98922-faq-installer-errors-setup-failed-installer-windows-ui-issues/&do=findComment&comment=547885 He suggests changing your colour profile to sRGB and attempt to install again. Alto-Nigraphy Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 Thank you ! 😁 Affinity Photo works again and I confirm the problem of ICC profile of the screen, I changed from sRGB to REC.709 and the installation could be done ! I'm so happy ! I will be able to uninstall Photoshop 😂 Chris B and PaulAffinity 1 1 Quote
Staff Chris B Posted June 9, 2020 Staff Posted June 9, 2020 I wonder if switching back to REC.709 wold prevent the app from running up again. To be honest, I'm surprised it was switching from sRGB to REC.709 that caused it and not the other way around... Staff Chris B Posted June 9, 2020 Staff Posted June 9, 2020 @Alto-Nigraphy - this has sparked a bit of concern for the developers. Any chance you can attach the sRGB profile you switched from? Do you have a 2nd monitor that uses a different profile? Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Alto-Nigraphy Posted June 9, 2020 Author Posted June 9, 2020 My screen was basic in sRGB, so it was impossible for me to put it back in sRGB, so I changed to REC.709 which has the same gamut as sRGB. I just changed my screen to sRGB and Affinity Photo still works. I use only one screen Chris B 1 Quote
paro Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 I made the suggested attempts, but Photo is not installed anyway and no error messages appear. I attach the log file for the last installation attempt. SetupUI.log Quote
