roh821z
EDIT. Wondering if anyone has a comprehensive list of the best sources for AD. I did find some on Creative Market and obviously in the Affinity shop. Just looking for a wider array, specifically paintbrush or related styles. I tried to import some brushes I found here but they appear to be raster. Looking for vector ones for AD specifically. Thanks! appearsharmless
Virtually all Affinity "vector" brushes just stretch or repeat a raster image along a vector path. The only two brushes that are pure vector are the first two brushes in the "Pen" category (you can tell these are vector because the bottom panel where you can set the head/tail offset of the raster image is blank). If you need pure vector brushes a few more were available in AD 1.6; they work in AD 1.8.3, and you can download them here. telemax 1 Quote iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)| MacOS (Probably latest stable build) Affinity Designer|Affinity Photo|Affinity Publisher
roh821z
Sorry if I'm being daft, but...are you saying that vector brushes simply just are not a thing in AD? And if so, why would that be? I'm so clueless after being able to simply just download and use vector brushes in AI. This is something I do daily in AI, and sadly something I cannot live without. Correct. They are bitmap/raster brushes. Why? Serif must answer that question. Calling them vector brushes is... <insert your own wording>. I purchased *a lot* of vector brushes from Frankentoon and DAUB and others and zip zero nada nothing is vector. I use Designer for art that will be rasterized anyway before further processing. As a vector drawing program Designer is pretty basic. Serif should rename these brushes "Dynamic brushes" or something else. They are a thing, but only for a very few brushes. Almost all of them are not 'pure vector' brushes. Ugh, that's really not cool haha. I was so looking forward to change to AD and finally shed AI from my life. I guess I won't be able to given how often I need to use vector brushes. Hrm...
