jackamus
Has anyone ever suggested a shape/stroke that is an editable zig-zag. This would be extremely useful for drawing screw threads instead of drawing a vee then copy and pasting multiple copies.. OR Could this be a brush? Since having AD from when it was first published I have never really needed to use the brush tab therefore my knowledge of creating brushed is virtually non-existent. A_B_C
Hi Jack, yes indeed, you can create textured image brushes for creating zig-zag lines, but I am not sure if the results do fit your needs … Have a look at my image … if you think something like that would be just right for you, it would be no problem to guide you through the relevant steps. But be aware, that you will end up with pixelated lines (essentially repeated pixel images) … Cheers, Alex
A_B_C
Oh yes, I remember that was discussed long time ago … :) https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/4342-zigzag-line/
jackamus
That looked OK. If you make a closed shape with the zig-zag line can you then fill it? jackamus
Thanks I'm glad I asked the question. This wouldn't do for me. Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! Gear maker
jackamus, how about using the grid to make the drawing task easier. In the attached I used the isometric grid and then turned off all snapping except snap to grid. It then only takes a second per node to draw with the pen and the grid makes it accurate. The isometric results in 60 degree teeth. A standard grid will give 90 degree. Other grids can give other angles. Then rotate the object when you are done to whatever angle is necessary and resize it as needed. Fill is no problem. jackamus
I see your point (pun not intended). In my particular case it would be using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut however for future use I might simply create a length of zig-zag using the grid and save it as an object to be used whenever I need to draw a screw thread. Thanks for the tip. Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools. Gear maker
No problem, seems we take the same types of tasks. Quote iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra

Gear maker
So I woke up at 4 in the morning thinking how to draw a screw. That's normal isn't it? Here is what I came up with so far on a 6-32 x 1/2" pan. It's getting close. Quote iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra
