Hi there again,

due there is no zigzag-tool I'm wondering what is the fastest and of course easiest way to do a zigzag line.

For one line I used two guidlines and the pen tool with shift for 45 degree angels. Works ok, but if I want smaller or wider angels which are identical - how can I realize this to be best?

For "straight" zig-zag lines this seems to be quite easy ... just transform the bounding box of your zig-zag path using the Move Tool ... then cut the path after transforming to the desired length ...

But obviously you are interested in something else, right? Mathematically definite angles? ...

Hey A_B_C, thanks - I know what you mean - but you're right, I'm looking for a more detailed possibility to do this -> mathematically definite ...

Now doing it your way with self defined guidelines in pre defined angles for optical but correct alignment.

Mmmmh, how about the possibility of rotating true guidelines for a future release, and not only horizonal and vertical ones? Just like I can do it with simple lines. -_-

As you will know, you can just draw a straight vertical or horizontal line and rotate it by exact degree values using the Transform panel. This provides a mathematically exact, though somewhat cumbersome, way to "stitch" together zig-zag lines ...  ;)

Improvements of the guides and grid system are already on the roadmap:

Kind regards, Alex  :)

Yes, I know - but I asked for the easiest and fastest way ;) but I think at this moment there is only a country road and noch Highway for this. But the Affinity-Team does a very good job and the roadmap looks great - so time may solve this. As long rotating and making own guides for exact angles may good enough :)

Thanks!
