I am not sure if it is a bug,If it is a bug, I hope to resolve it as soon as possible, which is really a disaster for me (T_T)

first question: After opening the macro record button, the "Merge Down" command cannot be used !

The time is too long, and the memory is a little vague. I created macro commands in versions 1.79 ~ 1.8. The original version is usable and completely normal.
Yesterday, I found that the macro command could not be executed when processing the picture. (use: 1.8.3.641).
After careful inspection, I found that the macro recorder cannot record the "Merge Down" command of the layer.

The "Merge Down" command created before version 1.8.3 cannot be executed.

After opening the macro record button, the "Merge Down" command cannot be used !

The second question:
After the small font is converted into pixels and moved to another location, there will be a relatively high probability of blurring.

This situation occurs more often after copying and pasting.

I am able to record a macro that includes the Layer > Merge Down command. I'm not sure what is happening with yours. Can you export it and attach it here?

I agree that Layer > Merge Down works, Chris.

However, right-clicking in the Layers panel does not work. So one cannot do the Merge using the right-click context menu. I don't know whether it worked in previous releases or not, but perhaps that's what @Seaway is trying to do?

Should right-clicking in the Layers panel work?

Not sure if it is related to the OP's problem or not but there is something a little weird with Merge Down

If I have a Pixel Layer above a Shape which is above a Pixel layer then Layer > Merge Down is greyed out but right-clicking on the top Pixel Layer gives you the option to Merge Down and it does merge down to the bottom pixel layer.

(Tested in released version and latest beta)

Nice spot @carl123—the right-menu option to Merge Down should be greyed out in this case. It should not merge down if the Pixel Layer is above the shape (it doesn't for me). The shape should go into the pixel layer though.

Thank you very much. It turns out that the layer must be converted to pixels first. I ignore this problem.

Hope that the macro editor can drag and drop to change the order of commands and delete commands, so that macro editing will be more flexible and efficient.
Thank you again for your help :)
