Style that consists only of Strokes not Working with Symbols

Recommended Posts

Hello Affinity community,

I'm wondering why, when working with symbols, the styles I create work with all my connected symbols only if the have fills. When I try to use a style that I created  that only has strokes, it only affects the particuplar thing that is selected, not the whole rest of the of the symbols, which it obviously should. See screenshot:

I made this style to have multiple strokes with the appearance panel. The "example" in the style panel, is the one I made from the multiple strokes you can see in the appearance panel. But you can see in the layers panel that although I have the curve selected, and the rest of the symbols originate and are connected with this one, but only this curve is changing, while the other strokes are a only a black line?

Thank you for the help.

Just set up a file similar yours and the style replicates to all symbols.

Applying/pasting a Style to an object in an instance of a Symbol is unreliable. The Appearance (the set of fills and strokes) of the receiving object is updated correctly in the active instance of the Symbol, but the Appearance can be incorrectly updated in other instances.

The update of the Appearance of the object in the other instances of the Symbol seems to be reliable only where the object already has the same quantity of strokes and fills as are in the Style. When there is no such match of Appearance attribute quantity, the required/redundant attributes sometimes are not added/removed to the object in the other instances.

Has this been reported as a bug?
