DM1
I noticed this effect when Initially updated to the 1.8.3 release. I did a hard reset on the iPad and haven’t had it happen again. Hi, yes a hard reset fixes it 70% of the time, but it’s been happening for 3 years over 2 iPad Pro’s

I’m still on iPad Pro 10.5 first edition and holding off updating. Appears Affinity still have work to do where newer iPads memory management is concerned. Love the app, but my god is she close to quitting.
Dan freeman
12.9 iPad Pro 2018 1tb, all updated with lots of space. The last few months I’ve had to quit using Affinity Photo professionally as it freezes, doesn’t save, doesn’t undo and crashes.
Staff Chris B Posted April 27, 2020 Staff Share Posted April 27, 2020 Hi Dan, I'm saddened to hear this. If you decide to have another go, I'd love to try and help you with this. What version of the app did you decide to give up on? 1.8.3 introduced some improvements for stability etc. If you get chance, there's a small guide on how to effectively report bugs to us (at the top of this forum)so that we can reproduce them and log them with development. I appreciate there isn't always a recipe so if you can just provide us with files, videos or info it can also be very helpful. Thanks. DM1
@Chris B hi Chris, Dan has posted previously but no mods responded. Screen recording shows very annoying bug. 🙂 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). p_mac
I have the same iPad Pro as Dan freeman and have not experienced the kind of behaviour he is describing. I have worked with some very large images, (7 image pano) , lots of manipulations with different tools and personas. In watching his video I noted that his gestures are very fast, something that I don’t do. Is it possible that the iPad is just not catching up to the speed? When first updating photo I had a similar experience where zooming in and out resulted in blank squares in the screen image. A hard reset fixed it for me and I haven’t had it reoccur. Maybe his iPad has some faulty ram? Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Staff Chris B Posted April 28, 2020 Staff Share Posted April 28, 2020 I have had the weird zooming thing before but not for a long time. Probably the best part of a year. Also, my 2017 iPad Pro has been nothing short of outstanding performance wise. I know we had a lot of issues with the 3GB models and non-Pro models but that had a lot of development time spent on it and seems to have been resolved from the people I asked who were affected. @Dan freeman Could I encourage you to post potential bugs in the bugs section going forward, I fear this is why your post in Questions may have been missed by a mod. Cheers. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials

Staff Chris B Posted May 6, 2020 Staff Share Posted May 6, 2020 I've merged both threads. I chose this one to merge into as it has the video. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
