When it comes to exporting the photos, I see that I lose a lot of quality when I review them in JPG (I export them at maximum quality). People who upload photos to 500px for example, have a much higher quality (It is the same camera).  Where can the failure be?

I am having the same issues. Photo looks great in Affinity but when it is exported, it is very disappointing...and yes, exporting to jpg at the highest quality.

Serif re-used the poor JPG algorithms used in their legacy programs (The Plus range). I know. I checked. Output is inferior and not optimized for size either. Neither is it an option.

But I can assure you than when it is finally improved you will see release notes and marketing with headlines like "MASSIVELY IMPROVED JPG OUTPUT🤨

  • Not an Affinity user og forum user anymore. The software continued to disappoint and not deliver.

hmm, so it's true that it's better to export PNG and convert it to JPG with other software?

If you just want better file size optimization than Affinity currently supports, you can export to JPEG from Affinity & use another app for that. I use ImageOptim for that. It is a free app with a number of very useful features including batch processing & a choice of optimization algorithms but it is Mac-only. The "Other Versions" link includes a few suggestions for Windows users.

That's what I'm doing. but saliniero says "I export them at maximum quality."
So I thought even export at maximum quality gets spoiled.

FWIW, I just posted a reply in the other topic by @saliniero that may help explain why this happens & what can be done about it.
