acdc1 Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Hi all! I'm trying to enable russian language spell checking in AD. I found solution on other thread (about publisher).... Solution was to download three dictionary files (.dic .aff) from libre-office and put them into ru-RU folder inside affinity designer language folder (edit->preferences->tools) . After I did that the russian language shows up but everything is red underlined. Any suggestions? Thanks Quote

walt.farrell Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Thanks, but an actual document would be better. Or, perhaps, try the screenshot again with one of the underlined words selected. Staff MEB Posted April 3, 2020 Staff Posted April 3, 2020 Hi acdc1, Can you try this please: with the text frame selected, go to the Character panel, Language section, click the Spelling dropdown and set it again to Russian (despite being selected already). Does the misspelled marks disappear? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

Staff MEB Posted April 5, 2020 Staff Posted April 5, 2020 Hi acdc1, It's probably an issue with the files you copied. Where did you get them from? Do you mind sharing the link? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
MikeW Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 Using the Russian Hunspell files attached to this post, I get this: I mispelled a word to demonstrates the dictionary works and adjusted the frame to force hyphenation (using APub, but the Hunspell is working in AD as well). These are installed here on my system for this test (using Windows): ru_RU.zip Quote

Hi again. I've downloaded three files from https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries/tree/master/ru_RU : hyph_ru_RU.dic , ru_RU.aff and ru_RU.dic ( as Walt.Farrell advised in other forum thread). I'm on Win 10. So .. then I've copied them into Program Data > Affinity > Common > 1.0 > Dictionaries > ru_RU folder. I created "ru_RU" folder cause otherwise AD doesn't t see russian language at all. M.O.Z.G 1 Quote

walt.farrell Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 For what it's worth, the LibreOffice Russian dictionaries at https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries/tree/master/ru_RU work just fine for me, with @acdc1's sample file.
