luca
Hi folks, I apologize for this probably simple question, but I'm getting lost... Is it a fact that tools such as DODGE&BURN can not work on a pixel layer ? Editing a really old analogic photo I 'realized' dodge (or one of the other two) does not work on a pixel layer whilst it is obviously performing its proper job on the background layer. I'm perhaps wrong, but I used those tools on 'new' pixel layers as well, in the past. Can anyone swiftly help me ? Where I'm getting wrong ? Thanks in advance

Staff DWright Posted February 12, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 12, 2020 If you have the correct layer selected and the Dodge and Burn tools still do not work please try rasterising the layer.

Hi luca, the tools do not work on an empty pixel layer, they need something to work with. Try filling your new pixel layer with 50% grey and change the blend mode to overlay or soft light, now the tools should work. Edit: They will not target shadow or highlights on this layer as it does not have any, but they will lighten or darken depending on if you are using the dodge or burn brush. luca
Murfee, how can I say, my carelessness some times costs so much ... Better if I don't exactly explain what I did wrong ! Anyway, my obvious mistake. Thanks Murfee for your patience.
