Firth_r
Hey folks, New to these forums so hello! I’m after a little help. I am attempting to make a shape out of text. I know I can do this by inserting a shape and making that shape a text frame, however I would like the shape to be one I’ve created. i have created a drawing as a pixel layer, I’d like now to be able to make that shape into an object that I can then make a text frame so I get free flowing text within the object. can anyone help me out? Or if I’ve done it wrong to start with, tell me how to make the shape I need then make it into a text frame? thanks all.
firstdefence
Which app are you using? You cannot convert a pixel image into a text frame, however, you can convert text into a text frame by Typing a letter or word, converting it to curves and then converting the curves to a text frame. A single letter: Type the letter Convert the letter to curves (CMD + Return) Select the Text Frame Tool and click on the text shape. A word: Type a word Convert the word to curves (CMD + Return) On the Layers panel, expand the group and select the text shapes Use Boolean Add to make them a single curves Select the Text Frame Tool and click on the text shape. Firth_r
Firstdefence thanks for that! If I created the drawing as a vector layer with vector brush tools, would I be able to make that into a text frame? Thanks!

If you still need the brush texture you can duplicate the shape and use it as a background. Possibly, but without seeing what you have it's really impossible to say whether it would work as you desire. Could you provide a sample .afdesign or .afpub file? Old Bruce
You could try this, do your drawing as a vector then expand the stroke and add the the resulting shapes then convert to a text frame. PaulEC
I'm not sure if this would do what you want, (it probably depends on the shape of your pixel layer). Could you insert your pixel shape, put a text frame on top of it, (if necessary drawing a shape with the pen tool and then converting that to a text frame,) then setting the wrap setting of the pixel shape to "inside" (adjusting the "distance from text" settings, if needed)? test.afpub Quote Acer XC-895 : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz : 32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 : Windows 10 Home Affinity Publisher 2 : Affinity Photo 2 : Affinity Designer 2 : (latest release versions) on desktop and iPad
