KJ08 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 (edited) I am extremely new to working with vector art...and affinity, please forgive my lack of correct terminology. I am trying to go from the first picture with a blue prop (It is colored blue for clarity) to the second picture . This is for screen printing. Everything in the dark blue is supposed to be shirt. On the 2nd picture, I have been trying to subtract/ divide that part of the stroke of the ellipse so that it cuts the stroke into the aircraft and prop. I have tried converting the ellipse to curves, as well. If at all possible, I'd like for the fill of the prop to reach the outer edge of the "subtracted" stroke. Note* the windows have already been subtracted Question: I think I figured out part of what I was doing wrong...trying to subtract more than one layer will make things disappear? Staff DWright Posted December 9, 2019 Staff Posted December 9, 2019 Is it possible for you to post a copy of your file and confirm which Affinity program that you are using KJ08 1 Quote
Fixx Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 If you are aiming to 1 colour print you would have to halftone the propeller ellipse to suitable screen frequency. Probably draw the halftone manually. KJ08 1 Quote

dutchshader Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 looks like you did knock out the 2 parts of the prop, only it is not visable because of the 2 pont stroke. set the stoke of the 2 parts to 0 and substact the prop parts Quote intel core i5, 16GB 128Gb ssd win10 Pro Huion new 1060plus. philips 272p 2560x1440px on intel HD2500 onboard graphics Razer Tartarus Chroma
firstdefence Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 There's a slight problem, all shapes have a stroke which would make it difficult to boolean add. There is an additional part that needs to be knocked out to give some shape, the foremost Float tip needs to be knocked out see image below. but the strokes need to be expanded and then boolean added back to the shape in order to knockout the float tip.
