Michael Ap-Thomas
Because Microsoft are ceasing to support Windows 7 I am going to buy a new PC. If I buy one which has Windows 10S will my Affinity transfer to this PC or will I have to buy it again from the Microsoft store?
Alfred
Your Windows 7 machine must be using the Affinity Store version of your Affinity app/s, so you would have to buy it/them again if you wanted to keep using Windows 10 S (since it only installs apps from the Microsoft Store). The alternative would be to upgrade the OS from Windows 10 S to Windows 10 Pro. carl123 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)
carl123
Alternatively, justy buy a PC with Windows 10 Home on it. Is there any particular reason you want 10S? Staff DWright Posted October 22, 2019 Staff Share Posted October 22, 2019 You can switch from the S mode to either Home or Pro depending on the version installed on your new computer but it is a one way process, this Microsoft link has more information on how to do this is stokerg

Michael Ap-Thomas
Thanks for all your replies. I have seen a nice PC for sale which comes with 10S which is why I asked. However, there is also a good PC available which comes with Windows 10 Home. I think I'll go for that one.
Staff DWright Posted October 22, 2019 Staff Share Posted October 22, 2019 Hi @Alfred, The article that I linked too was created in 2017 but it is the same information that is in the Windows 10 FAQ's that was last updated in March this year

The groovyPost article that I linked to described a series of steps to switch back to S mode but the Windows 10 FAQ article is quite unequivocal about it: Quote How do I switch back to S mode? Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you switch out of S mode, you'll need to keep using the standard version of Windows 10.
