  1. That's something I reported times (years) ago, but nothing happend so far! - In the stroke panel the miter label (german: "Gehrung") covers the corner selection button type selection and thus makes it pretty difficult (sometimes impossible) to select the underlayed selection button. screencast.mp4 Either make the stroke panel wider or abbreviate the localized label entry. - This affects all Affinity versions (ADe, APh, APu), I can't believe this still isn't fixed in the actual Affinity v1.8.4/v.1.8.6 line!

  3. Hi all, Lately I have been making my own oil and beeswax mixes for my woodworking projects, and wanted to make some small containers to send with my cutting boards. I made a round label mostly because I could get them here in town. They came in a 2 in size that fit my tins pretty well. I used the template that Avery provided and used snapping to align my stickers to the sheet. Once the basic design was worked out I duplicated the sheet and changed each one to the other oil. What I liked: Making it all black and white was very simple and easy to LaserJet print. Using a premade font kept the thing simple and easy to alter. Trimming with Masks kept everything fitting in the circles very easy. Where I would change: My wife pointed out that I could of just duplicated the template layer and used them to get a better fit. I would potentially use the embedded object feature to update the sticker for changing the oil type or jar size when I make more. Leaving all of the shapes to not be trimmed by the mask would help with the bleed but make it harder to align. Thickening the stroke a bit more to cover any misalignment in the sheet. Print the pages separately so as to align each better. Anywho, thanks for reading if you did and looking. I would love any suggestions, critiques or techniques. Thanks all,
  4. I have just purchased Affinity Designer 1.8.3 and have noticed a user interface bug in that the "Zoom" label isn't displaying correctly in the Context Toolbar. I have attached a screenshot to clarify what I mean.
  5. How can I visualize a looping design that's to be printed on a tape? Two cases where I encounter this most often: 1. product label design, where the label is glued around a cyllindrical shape (bottle, paper tube, can) with an intersection - so that one end of the label is glued on top of the other after it's wrapped around the packaging 2. continuous tape designs for print or custom adhesive tapes Actually, I think my question is a subset of "how to generate looping patterns", but all the materials I found on this did not show any visualization tools. I end up copy-pasting the design and modifying it by eye, which is imprecise and time consuming.
  6. Hi team! Really loving Affinity Designer on the iPad Pro and improvements to the toolbars. An idea to help people know quickly what each small button in the Context Toolbar does, if this can help... When small buttons in the Context toolbar don’t have a label, such as node snapping buttons, would it help to press and hold on a button to see a label overlay? Thanks.
  7. Hi A very happy user of Designer here. I am using Assets extensively, but wondered if we could have the option of increasing the size of the preview in the catalog. It was also be useful to have the names under the asset instead of only showing up when hovering the mouse. Thanks Simon
  8. I looked at several useful videos of different topics , but none to how to label a layer. The help on the iPad did not work (appears to be for the computer version). This appears to be a bug, but maybe I just have not found the magic touch. Frustrating.
  9. Hi! It would be great to be able to hide artboad labels. For instance, if you want to zoom out and look at your artboards, the labels are overlapping and don't look good at all. Plus, hiding the labels gives you a better idea of what the design looks like.
  10. Hi all, a recent tutorial I did for Envatotutsplus on Affinity Designer is out. It's a step by step from start to finish type of tutorial of my basic workflow developing a fun Canine Cowboy character to a cartoony semi-realistic finish. It's an intermediate level tutorial so some knowledge of Designer is required. :-) Check it out at: http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-detailed-beer-label-in-affinity-designer--cms-26010 Also checkout the attached image here for a preview of the final image. Have fun! Retrograde (aka Kevin Creative)
  11. I've read before that Affinity has no plans to take on a live dimensioning/ CADtools-esque functionality in the near future, but can you PLEASE reconsider! This is such a gaping hole in the industry of environmental designers (and frustrated Adobe customers). Please please consider! -S
  12. I have been using Affinity Designer to design and make simple labels for a variety of products. These are my latest.
  13. Hello, creative people! I'm a science professor (Physics and Math, mostly) and I'm working at some electronic educational materials for my students. When I found about vector graphics and AD, it was a game changer for me. I'm not by any means an artistic person, I don't draw, paint or whatever, but I use AD for science illustrations (inclines, pulleys, circuits, geometric shapes). I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but my feature request is a small detail that I find useful for science illustrations. I would like it to have a special tool for displaying measurements and some other labels. For example, if I draw an incline, to be able to show its measurements or if I have a problem with, say, a football field or a rectangle, to quickly add its measurements. And not only the (measurement) label, but also the specific arrows, like on the sidelines of the picture in the attachment. Also, should I (or any of you) have any more ideas for useful features for scientific illustrations, I'll surely come back. Thank you for your time and the great products! EDIT: I'm sorry, for some reason, the attachment doesn't display as it should. It's this picture: http://www.volleyball-rules.net/images/volleyball_court_dimensions.jpg
  14. Hey, Really like working with AD, at least when it doesn't crash. Which is does now, a lot - like every other minute. Seems mostly when dealing with artboards. Also, to make a crash more annoying, the studio hides and the tools "undock". To re-launch AD after a crash I have to: 1. Launch AD. This launch however, will freeze. 2. Force quit AD. 3. Re-launch AD. 4. Re-dock Tools. 5. Reset Studio. 6. Open the work file. 6. Create a new document and add any shape to the canvas. (This is the only way for the layers in the studio to actually appear.) 7. Close the new document. 8. Get back to work, until it crashes again. 9. Rinse and repeat from step 1. Needless to say, this is EXTREMELY frustrating and time consuming. I would have posted this under bugs, but seems you have closed that forum. Aanyway.... When I sufficiently zoom out, I would really like to see the overlapping artboard labels hidden. There is no point in showing something that looks like this (attached image):
  15. Hello, today I´m wondering how to insert graphic text with an automatic frame. I have to label some places and would like to differ some of the labels by bordering them with a frame. I guess that a manual bordering would cause inaccuracies, so I´m looking for an automatic solution. It would be great if someone could tell me something about this. And if so it would be very helpful if this would be possible very detailed as I´m not used to design and affinity :) . Thanks in advance und my best regards, sandfraeulein
  16. Hi everyone! Help! I was wondering if someone could do a template for me for a jewel case panel? Ive attached a picture similar to what I am talking about. I found this online so I copied it just to show you guys what I mean. I also attached the CD Label that someone else had posted in affinity forum back in 2014. That worked perfectly for me because it allowed me to edit it. So I would like something similar done to the back panel template so I can edit it in the future. Thank you! 17. Hi all. Here is my very first piece done in Designer from back in August I think. It was done with the initial free beta before the app store version came out. I wanted to test drive the app after stumbling across it and checking out all of the features and also seeing Jonathan Ball's initial work. It looked pretty promising. So with a sketch I had kicking around of a concept that didn't get beyond the sketch, I dove right in. This idea was one of several I had for a local brewery's new brew called "Full Kilt" a high octane Scottish Ale. I got hooked almost immediately and found the workflow new but not entirely foreign. Things made sense. I immediately made the piece my avatar. :) It's all vector, no pixel persona in this one...
