  1. Hello, I'm having a problema with affinity photo on macOs (mojave)... I can't export EPS files, it appears empty, I think that is because of file authorization, something like that... because when I opened the file in Designer, it asked authorization, I granted and I was able to export, but won't work with photo and I don't know how to authorize, because it don't ask me anymore... thank you
  2. Hello! i’m newbie to use affinity designer. Can I ask, how to export eps file for submitting artwork to micro-stock website like shutterstock and adobe stock, there was issue about rejection size of artboard need help thank you
  3. Hello, I've been tasked with making a logo for a client of mine and have ran into a dead end basically at the very end. My issue is this, I have my completed artwork ready to export, I use the default (EPS for export) preset and created the file. When previewing my file on the default Macos image viewer it displays it correctly with my shapes, gradients etc. Now I want to take my EPS files and open them in Affinity Photo and Publisher, both for mockup and business card work respectively. My vector artwork has missing elements and the elements that did stick have wrong gradients/colors. I thought this was a issue with my document so I opened a new one but the problem persists. When opening the said eps file Publisher and Photo they will always display the same missing elements and artwork. Ive tried expanding the artwork but the issue persists. I have no idea what else to do, I can only come to a assumption that Affinity Designer can't export EPS correctly. I even selected the artwork and changed it to one of the default grays found in the swatches and when exporting it the artwork comes out intact!!! Below are the steps I did to come these same results every time along with screenshots. 1. At my original document where the logo was created I then selected the one I want to use. 2. Next hit the menu bar and choose export 3. From there choose EPS for export and for the AREA choose selection without background and leave the other options untouched. 4. For this example I made a folder and exported the file to that location my desktop. 5. Here you can see the file in the folder I created and the preview it ends up showing. * There is no text because it is colored white so its hidden here. 6. Here I'm going to open the file in Designer. Notice how the artwork and the gradient looks. > These are just shots of the same EPS opening in Publisher and Photo. > I copy and pasted the same artwork but changed it to one of the greys in the default Greys swatches panel. Here I opened the EPS and it came it out intact! In the end maybe I'm still doing something wrong with the way the export is. If someone can help me with this I would definitely appreciate it! I want to continue using Designer to make my branding, and logos, etc.
  4. Hey there, I am using Publisher now for some weeks and get really into it. A great plus is the not-lagging experience on large files I knew from Ado... A week ago I started a print project with Publisher and I have to set Logos from an agency. So I import the .eps files I need. But there is an error in importing the gradient used in this logo. Open the file in Affinity Designer shows the same bug. Open the files in Adobe Illustrator everything seems okay. For a self try I exported the files to .pdf, older versions of .eps to .svg but everywhere the bug (and on older versions of eps new bugs...) is still there. Copy paste from Illustrator to Publisher/Designer works often but in this special case not. Same bug result :-( What also is confusing to me is the fact, that the color also seems changing. You can see it on the attached image. The right gradient seems lighter than the original left one!?... Confusing I don't want to use png files in a high quality product also in case of possible cmyk color problems. Has somebody an idea how to fix this or how to make a workaround? Thanks a lot! Max
  5. Hi, I tried to export .eps file for shutter stock which is need to be bigger than 4m. So i set my work like 6000x4000px which is should be very big but turned out it was very small when i open it again in app after exporting the file. Please suggest, thanks.
  6. Not sure if this can be reported as a bug, or if this is just something that is not supported, but the following kinds of Illustrator created eps files do not open correctly in Designer (nor Publisher). These are in practice MathType generated eps files that have been finalized with Illustrator CS6 and that can be placed as inline graphics in InDesign. These work perfectly well in CS6 environment and have been used to produce printed publication so nothing wrong with the format. Quark can import these ok but cannot use them as inline graphics. Just FYI that this is not sheer Adobe thing. SangaEqn005.eps EDIT: Some additional information: CorelDRAW (2017) can also import these correctly. (So I'm on WIndows platform...) These are in grayscale format. EDIT2: It seems these are direct MathType exports, after all. It is related to handling of fonts. The original files just refer to installed fonts (mostly Times New Roman), but do not embed the font. However when I open this kind of file in Illustrator and then save the selection as Illustrator eps (with preview and fonts embedded), Affinity Designer still cannot show content of certain formulas as text (empty content shows where text should appear). Certain formulas show content, but then the text is converted to curves, while other similarly created formulas only show the graphical content, and completely ignore the text part. I tested the feature now with MathType 6.9, which is the latest Design Science version (non-subscription license) so cannot tell if MathType eps exports still behave the same, but this is an important issue for anyone that hopes to be able to use Affinity Publisher for laying out scientific publications. When the eps files are converted to AI, Designer opens the formulas correctly but AI is not a good format for formulas as they contain the artboard and cannot be just bounding box selections.
  7. Hi there! when exporting text with a gradual transparency to *.eps or *.pdf, the export fails and only exports blocks, no text. I tried converting the text to curves, having single text lines (not a big block), ..., but none works. Can someone tell me what's wrong? (using Designer 1.7.1) Thanks a lot! fabius_ original before export: after export to *.eps: it's rasterized and when going to "outline", only blocks are shown: and the image is rasterized (though it shouldn't be):
  8. Please add an option to control eps format. AD rasterize all objects with gradient & transparency. PostScript level 3 is compatible with gradient, Illustrator or even Inkscape can export eps with gradient without rasterzing it. Also Illustrator can export objects with transparency as divided shapes instead of rasterizing it. Refer Illustrator's option panel
  9. Hello, I have a problem on AD for iPad. My illustration of eps files that are exported from AD for iPad are always refused to upload to Shutterstock. The reject reason is because the file is less than 4MP. I found out that the eps file size is smaller than the original size. The original file size is always more than 4MP (for example 11000px X 4000px, 5000px X 5000px). However, the exported eps file size is 2052.8px X 647.4px, 1200px X 1200px... I do not find out the rule of the percentage to be shrunk so I do not expect what size I should set the original file. I would like to upload eps files to shutterstock because that is gradually more needed in the world. I attached screen shots. "IMG_0323" shows eps artboard size and "IMG_0324" shows original art board size. Please help me.
  10. Whenever we are opening EPS Files in any Affinity Software, we have strange seperation lines which were not visible in ADOBE Software. Is there a Solution to this Problem? Thank you!
  11. Hallo everyone, I started using Affinity Designer yesterday and I am really impressed how powerfull the software is while being so easy to use at the same time! However, when I wanted to export my first graphic to EPS in ordner to embed it in a Latex project, I realized that psfrag is not able to replace the text in the exported graphic because the text is exported as a graphic object rather than a true text object. Am I missing an export option or is Affinity Designer really not able to export true text in an EPS file? Why is text not being exported the way it is described in the PostScript Technology Center, e.g. like in this documentation? Best regards Tobi
  12. Importing a PDF or (the same file as) AI-File with some gradients bring a very disturbed result. Also the exported PDF looks like the preview on the screen. See attached screenshot. If I resave the .AI as EPS and import this to AP 1.7.0.293, the preview on the screen isnt very nice but close on the original - the exported PDF looks like it should. If someone of serif needs the .ai, please PM or answer on this thread.
  13. Hello. Tell me please, is it possible to export files drawn on the iPad in EPS format, if there are objects with different transparency in the file, so that these objects remain vector? I tried to export such a file, all objects become raster.
  14. When i try to open a clients Logo in eps-format i always get a error message. "The File could not be parsed". It´s important to open it cause it´s a project i have do finish in the next 10 days. Find attached the file. Best regards Michael EVA_logo_farbe.eps
  15. I am using Affinity Photo Desktop 1.6.11. I am trying to open an EPS file, but only part of the file opens and can be manipulated. The top and the left side of the image is cropped, and those elements of the image do not show up in the list of layers. (See screenshot -- there should be a fifth book on top of the red one; that fifth book shows up when I open the file in Preview.) What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
  16. Hello, I bought a vector logo through Shutterstoch (did that on previous occasions too) but this time this eps opens in greyscale. Aff. Designer seems to asign this automatically. I searched for a solution only to find they were working on it. Is there already a solution? I attached the eps file to this post. I really really need to make this work. Many thanks for your help, Virginie shutterstock_746303764.eps
  17. Hello I have a problem with .eps files. Im using the latest Affinity Designer for Windows version and .eps files from Freepik look like the picture I attached. There is some kind of mesh visible, instead of smooth gradients. Any way to fix it? It's crucial for me. Thanks!
  18. Has anyone tried to use an eps vector file from shutterstock? The file size is ca. 8MB, so obviously it contains a lot of data. But when I open it with Affinity Designer, I only see a bitmap image of a very low resolution (something like 60 dpi). Shutterstock claims the file is a valid eps and opens correctly with Adobe or Corel. Looks like AD has some kind of problem with these files. Is this a known problem, or should we file a bug report somewhere?
  19. When I open an EPS (logo over white background) I am unable to make a selection with either the Selection Brush or Flood Select. I can make a selection with the Rectangular Marquee tool, but if I select some of the white background to the side of the logo and hit delete, the logo goes away. I only have one layer so I'm not sure what's going on. Additionally, PDF files seem to work the same way. I have tried flattening the images first and that gives some more options, but still not everything works. When I open a PNG screen capture all tools function normally. I am new to Affinity Photo and it seems to be really powerful and I'm sure this is operator error. I have looked at the forum and tutorials and cannot find topics on these particular issues. I would appreciate your help. Thank you.
  20. In this video, we have shown how to export EPS files in the Affinity Designer for Coreldraw and Illustrator.
  21. I found an overprint bug in Affinity Designer 1.6.1 (from App store). 1. EPS logo dropped into sign 2. export or using slices with "Overprint Black" checked will actually set all colors to overprint, even when the colors are not set to overprint in the original file. There is rarely a case that anything should overprint other than black. 3. This only happens with EPS files. As you can see in the screenshot from Acrobat that the PDF to the right did not overprint but is correct. Unchecking the box "Overprint Black" in the More dialog box will enable it to not overprint all the other colors but that is just a workaround and could cause other problems.
  22. Affinity community, I need your help! I'm fairly new to Affinity Designer and I'd like to use some brushes which are available throughout the web. While I have no problems importing afbrushes, it seems to be impossible to do the same with ai and eps. I could not find any working solution both in the Affinity help and the forum. Let me illustrate the problem with an example. I got a pack of brushes at this website and unzipped it on my MacBook. In AD, I tried to import the brushes, like always, by navigating to the brushes panel and clicking import brushes. If I click the button, I can move to the unzipped folder where I eventually see ai as well as eps brushes. But as you can see in the screenshot, the respective brushes are greyed out—no matter if in draw or pixel persona. On this page, Affinity says that one would be able to import both brushes. And if I open an eps brush by right clicking open with, AD opens them as you can see in the second screenshot. But then, I don't no what to do to use them as brushes. So I would be very happy, if you could help me to solve my problem/confusion. Besides the aforementioned problem: AD rocks! Cheers, Ali
  23. I draw vector lines in my ipad with affinity designer but after exporting my file to eps it broke when it opened in an adobe illustrator. Please look at the attachments. I want to copy my vector lines in to adobe illustrator.
  24. Hello, I'm having trouble exporting a design from the Beta version to the stable version. Copying and pasting doesn't work. Making a new file from clipboard doesn't work. Exporting to SVG or EPS resulted in many many issues, such as raster shapes, wrong shapes, etc. Is this a Beta limitation or am I doing something wrong?

    EPS not loading

Hi, I'm using Affinity Designer and Photo, and I figure out a bug using a Mac OS X HighSierra 10.13.6 (memory: 8GB, 1TB HD) The bug: Some EPS files don't open. An example: This file from Freepik - when I try to open this on Designer or Photo, it crashes Mac. If I don't Force Quit, all the system turns into completely unusable. Another bug with EPS: the file open with nothing. Completely white. But it opens good in another softwares. An Exemple is: Alfaparf Milano logo from Brands of the world website The result is exactly the same using Designer or Photo. Best Regards, Anderson Costa
