  1. Figured out the pressure sensitivity settings in Pixel Persona (I'm a painter, not a graphic designer so this is probably all I'll ever use) BUT. I've noticed that drawing with my Wacom, I get -very- unsmooth, jagged, laggy lines. What this program desperately needs is a lazymouse or stabilization setting. Without that, this thing is completely useless to me. :(
  2. Hello First congratulation for nice beta software. Its looks very promising for me! I already test it with some my work from Illustrator. Some files unfortunately crash but its still beta version. So I accept this. I found some small issues what I will report now. But generally I must say. I will be able to use your sw for my work even in beta state. Now small bugs what I found till now My Wacom tablet doesn't seem to work with your Brush Editor. I try to setup it probably correct way. But pressure is not working for me. I change both size and opacity percentage variance. And I try also different Pressure characteristics. But this doesn't work. What I found only working was pressure settings in stroke panel. But it seems to work only for moment when I try it. And it still doesn't react on pressure but it tooks characteristics what I create. And use it to change thickness of line (start to end). Next to it when I'm drawing some times I get some lag between hand and displaying. And sometime it seems like some point are skipped. Sometimes is sampling of data from input device working really fluently. Even I draw it quickly... I don't know where is exactly problem because my machine is quite powerful. But It can be some my local problem. What will be also nice add to functionality is working with multiple windows. Just add option like arrange cascade and tile. But I must say split view option is really cool. But I'm quite often using views when I see in 100% canvas to see how will for example icons looks like and next to it also zoom in variant where I work on it. Illustrator have nice automatic behave when if I choose for example text in 100% view. In Zoom in area is automatically scrolled selected item and I see it directly zoomed. This will be very cool to have also in designer. But thanks for your Beta software! I'm also developer so I know how hard is sometimes to implement some new feature or fix some complicated bug. So I wish you many luck with your progress. Kind regards Michael
  3. Dear users, I just tried editing in Affinity Photo using a Wacom pen and tablet instead of the mouse and something ist quite strange for me. With the mouse, when I change for example a color adjustment with a slider, like changing color saturation, I can move the slider and the image shows instant preview. The change is made then, when I release the mouse button. That's like I would expect. But using the pen and tablet, there is no preview, when I drag a slider. The image just changes, when I lift the pen, which is like releasing a mouse button. This is quite irritating, because one cannot adjust a slider properly without preview. Does anybody know how to change this behavior? Moving a slider with the pen should do the same than moving it with the mouse. Thanks and best regards, Berin
  4. Hi everyone! Perhaps it's just me, but I can't get wacom's grip pen tilt sensor to work with the brushes. I was trying with the DAUB markers (the one with the "vertical" shape). I can get pressure sensitivity, but no tilt for changing the shape rotation ... Is this possible? Thanks.
  5. Hi all, Is it just me or... is there no way to enable pen pressure opacity to pixel brushes? Slightly baffled if it isn't supported so I suspect it's me being thick :)
  6. I've got an older Wacom Intuos 3 tablet and pen that fails to incorporate pen sensitivity on my Affinity Designer files. I've installed the most current Wacom Driver (3.15-2) for use with the most current version of El Cap (10.11.2). The pen and settings work fine in PhotoShop CS4 (using the brush in a layer) but in Affinity Designer. I'm new to Affinity Designer and am wondering if the lack of pen sensitivity is due to old equipment being used in a new program, or if I am missing something to be set in the brushes panel. If the problem lies with the brush settings, will you please direct me to a way for learning about correcting the settings. Many thanks!
  7. I recently was able to purchase a large Wacom Intuos 5 Pro tablet and am looking for a program that enables me to paint, blend, layer images/drawings/paintings, cut out images, and add images to new ones...In short, an alternative to Photoshop that isn't outlandishly expensive. I would love to blend my classical/impressionistic painting with 21st century techniques to achieve the final outcome onto canvas faster. I saw the Affinity Photo trailer and was Immediately stoked. My question is, what are the differences between Affinity Design and Affinity Photo? Does Photo have many drawing/brush effects to integrate my Inuos 5 with? I think the clip I saw answered my curiosities but I want to make sure I'm on the right track. Thanks :D !!
  8. Hello, Is it possible to make Vector Brush Tool more predictable? Line width changes as soon as I release a button. Here's how it looks in Affinity Designer: And here's how brush pressure looks like in Photoshop: I use Wacom Intous 4 with Pressure Controller turned on. Here's brush settings:
  9. Hi - excited to try out my preview copies of the Affinity products in the next couple days - two quick questions.... This first one is probably obvious once I install the aps, but I'll ask anyway: is there full support in the Photo Ap for Wacom pen tablets (pressure and tilt)? Next question - It has been a year and a half now that I have waited for Adobe to give dual video card support in their GPU preferences... I have a Mac Pro with dual video cards but Photoshop only uses the VRAM from one of the cards - not both - so basically late 2013/14 Mac Pro owners have one dormant video card in terms of VRAM. Do the Affinity apps take advantage of all the VRAM available on the New Mac Pro dual video cards? (so far that I know, only Final Cut Pro takes advantage of this). Thank you for the answers. Jeff
  10. I'm using the free 10-day trail at this point. I draw with an Intous3 Wacom tablet and have not been able to make my pen work with pressure sensitivity in the program . Does anyone have a solution or have experienced the same issue? Thanks.
  11. Hi folks, I'm new to mac and I've been looking around for some good photo editing software to use for creating concept art. Affinity looks excellent for its price and I worked with Serif software before switching to mac so I know I'll be using good software. So I'd love the purchase it. But, my mac only has a 32-bit version of Yosemite OSX. I was wondering if the software would still work for what I wanted it for which is mainly painting using a pressure sensitive Wacom tablet. Any advice on this would be great Thanks!
  12. Hi, I'm using Affinity Photo with my Wacom Pen and Touch and the pen pressure is not working as expected. When pressure button is pressed the size of the brush varies, but the dynamics panel (that shows up within "More" settings) seems not working at all. I've probed to ajust to "Pressure" several options, but there's no visible results. Am I doing something wrong, or the pressure just works with brush size? Thanks for the help.
  13. Hello Affinity, I'm so glad to see an app like this in the marketplace. However, I can't use it for digital painting and illustration yet because of one MAJOR missing feature: Tablet pressure controlled opacity with the paint brush. As it stands you can set pressure on brush size and flow (among other things) but for digital painters opacity is the most important pressure control you can have. I'd say it's pretty darn important for retouchers as well. Please add this feature soon, because as of now Affinity Photo is unusable for me. Thanks!
  14. I wish there is a better and more precise cursor in the next update. (At least a crosshair option available) As in the attached gif file. It's hard to see the center point of the cursor and also the size of the brush related to my stylus pressure (I'm using Wacom tablet).
  15. Hello, with Affinity Designer I can on the pressure intensity of the pen, the brush thickness via control -> Set pressure. But I want to set on the pressure opacity. How does it work? Thanks Newstone (Translated with Google Translate)
  16. Hi. New to Affinity Designer (and the forums.) I've been searching in the forums as well as the net, and I can't really figure out why the pressure-sensitivity isn't registering. I've tried to set my Controller set to both "Automatic" and "Pressure." Sometimes (rarely) it works - other times there is no obvious difference. I've also set the "Size Variance" to 100%. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  17. Using the mouse to click in one place, move to another, then shift + click, draws a straight line between the two clicks. This behavior does not occur with my Wacom Intuos Pro with latest drivers. Only when Shift + Click + drag does it register... but then you have a slight wiggle at the end of your line...
  18. I have almost been able to replace photoshop, however the only thing holding me back is when retouching with the healing brush and the wacom tablet. It's not really a bug, but it's just the feel and speed. When I set up the pen to be able to sample when pressing a pen key, I find I have to hold it straight and press hard on the tablet in order to select. It's faster just to use the alt key, but that takes away from the speed of being able to work with the pen and tablet without using the keyboard.
  19. This is a great App and I just wanted to help out with a small observation. I'm a digital artist and I use a Wacom tablet for drawing digitally. I noticed (running on an iMac) that there is a small, roughly 0.2 second delay on the time between the wacom pen stroke pressure and the application of pixels in all the brushes. Basically, when you draw, the line is appearing late. It makes it very hard to sketch anything in detail. I have the brush width settings very low, in order to mimic a real pencil width. I love the paint blend tool, a great feature, and 'paint select' is excellent, a great idea. My best, Ed
  20. From what I've seen so far you guys did a wonderful job with Photo, thank you so much!! One thing in particular that needs some closer look for me is the noticeable lagging of paint brushes plus the little offset when starting to paint (leading to little gaps in drawings). I've noticed some lagging in designer as well, but since the focus is on vector drawing it is not as important as it is here.
  21. I just started trying out Affinity Designer and I was trying to "ink" some pencil art I scanned in. I'm using the "brush" tool with the variance set at 100% trying to get good varied line widths. I trace the line and the preview, as I'm drawing the line, looks correct but when I lift my stylus, it's nothing like the preview. It's either all thick or it snaps back to being a thin wispy line. Even changing my sensitivity in the Wacom preferences doesn't seem to help much. Am I missing something? I'm using a Cintiq Companion Hybrid and also trying it with a Wacom Intuos Pro. Same thing happens on both. Macbook Pro 15" (late 2011) with 16GB RAM running Yosemite (completely updated)
  22. Hey fellow AD'ers! I recently added an Intuous Pro tablet to my setup, and was looking around to see if anyone had some great presets/configuration ideas for integrating the numerous buttons on the tablet with AD. Thanks for any input!
  23. Currently both ends of the Wacom pen act as the same tool while drawing. Also, when switching between the brush and eraser tools, it would be nice if the size of each respective tool would remain independent from the other. Changing the size of the eraser shouldn't affect the size of the brush, and vice-versa.
  24. I can't seem to get fat/thins line to work with my Wacom Tablet. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Does Designer use the pressure sensitivity of a Wacom in the current release? Thanks
  25. Are there plans for the Gallery and Pressure Tabs for Affinity?
