  1. Not a bug, more a wording issue (no drama ). I just cooked up a mindmap in SimpleMind, and as that doesn't have titling I usually "print" a map to PDF, then pull it into AD and add something manually. When I pull in the PDF, I get a warning which isn't: "Missing fonts: All the fonts used by the document are available" From a UI perspective it's generally advisable to only to display alarming text if there is cause. I would suggest to change that alert to "No missing fonts: All the fonts .." or just "All the fonts are available". Just a small detail.
  2. Hi to the dev. team. Is there any solution for the problem I've encountered? I can't export the invites I laid out to pdf. You can see the dialog box appeared when I've tried exporting it. (refer to screen shot please) For a brief background on the work, it's only a one page lay out, the design is done separately and I laid them again (4 copies) to fit them in an A4 size paper for exporting. The saying "Estimated File Size:" , just gave me " Calculating for almost 7 minutes to 10 minutes. Your quick response will be appreciated. I'm using Affinity Designer for Windows (Win10)
  3. When I export a layout to PDF, in this case a multiple artboard document, there is a very slight white line. I first thought I didn't bleed my images so I checked, but they are clearly off the artboard and bleeding. But on Mac Preview (and also Acrobat Pro, PDF Expert etc) there is still that white line. I blew up it so I can show you and please see attached here. Also I first thought this was an AD Beta (4) issue but I checked it out in 1.5 and same thing. By the way, the white box you see here is not the spacing between pages - the end of the white part is where the page ends.
  4. Hi everyone, could you suggest any alternative to adobe pdf converter? the thing is we worked with adobe previously but moved to affinity completely. we used adobe pdf converter in windows to save pdf from other software to edit it in affinity further, but we don't have it now since we stopped to use adobe and windows default pdf converter doesn't seem to work correctly especially with curves making them rather like polylines. Any suggestions, guys? Is there any affinity pdf converter or we should look for third party one?
  5. To illustrate a math article, my work flow in Illustrator is as follows: 1. I draw the illustration. 2. To copy a formula to the illustration, I open the pdf file of the article (created with LaTeX), select the formula, copy it, 3. I open the illustration, paste the formula. 4. I group it, and move it. How can I do this with Designer? All my attempts have failed.
  6. Hi, In my .pdf document, I would like to create an interactiv link to my website address. Could you please let me know how to create it? Thanks for help, Evolus
  7. Hi, I would like to open my PDF file with affinity and crop some are of the page. But when I pen the file I see many layers so I cannot crop. How can I do that. Please review the attachment. Thank you
  8. I opened the PDF file in AFFINITY PHOTO. But what is the reason that it comes out because it is broken without the font? I'll attach a sample file.
  9. I'm being a bit cheeky, I have to admit! Someone a while back pointed out that you can pass vector images from DrawPlus to AD by exporting them as PDFs. The Autotrace studio in DP is a lot of fun to play with, and these pics were put through it with suitably tweaked parameters. I imported the PDFs into AP to clean them up a little and trim any white space from the edges. I don't claim any artistic merit (except in the Dad-ist sense that I chose the originals and decided which ones to post and which ones weren't good enough). But I like the kind of near-abstract decomposition that often comes out, and I shall take inspiration and have a go at making some vector jobs entirely by hand.
  10. Can I create a multipage document that would output to a single multipage pdf document? Thanks
  11. Excuse my English. The way I share my files for someone else to edit, from AD to Corel or Illustrator is in PDF format. But when I export to PDF so that another user can work the file, the drawing and the text are rendered. And I'm going crazy. I have a file with an element (a layer with many groups of an AI converted to SVG), I also have a text to curves. Please help me, it is an urgent job for my company where I work. Thank you very much. 12. Version of Affinity Designer is 1.5.2.58 I needed to create a very simple artwork that is large in size (8100mm x 4300mm) and export it to a print-ready PDF. The vendor will use it to die-cut the artwork into 20 different pieces. Certainly easier than for me to create 20 different files and ensure each print out assembles correctly into one art-piece. I tried to export the finished work using PDF for print. It took a few hours but it finally completed. The pdf file was over 200Mb. Tried to open it using Adobe Reader, it shows a blank white page  I have done this several times before with smaller jobs and I did not face any problems or issues. But this is my first try with such a large size. Hope someone can advise if Affinity Designer can handle such a size or if there is something I can do to make this work (vendor waiting for my file :( ). Attached is the affinity file in question. Thanks for your kind attention! David Panel_clouds.afdesign
  13. Hi All, Have a user with the need to design a fillable PDF form. Looking for software to do that, something along the lines of Adobe Livecycle Designer, but without the cost or complexity. Do any of the Affinity products offer similar capability?
  14. Hey guys, I have created a logo and when i export it to PDF and open it the glitter tent opening i created from a shape turns into pieces, I've played around with layers and i don't know why its doing this? Then i just opened the exported SVG file of this and the whole glitter shape is gone , the white triangle which is the opening has also disappeared and the black tent its self is just there, why :( ? I'm sorry if this is a silly question but i have never had this issue before. Would it have something to do with the grouping? How ive exported it? What am I missing. Attached pictures are : 1 is a screen shot of my PNG file open which is clearly right and then the PDF open next to it with the glitter tent opening in pieces, and then the 2nd one is a screenshot of when i open the file in SVG ? Thank you and I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this and possibly help me out here xo
  15. Hi guys, I am experiencing crashes (Unhandled exception and then "Crash Reporter cannot find an error report to send.") when I try to export my work to PDF (for print). File can be dowloaded from my OneDrive: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aqe__SfYQ9LXhNRC9x8rwSdUZh0HrQ
  16. Hi everyone, i just have a question about pdf filesize. I am in the transition phase from AI to AD and noticed that the exported pdf/x-3 -files from AD are MUCH larger than the ones from AI. For instance: i have a banner in ai - results in a 5 MB file. Now i redesigned the EXACT same banner from scratch in AD, export it as x-3 pdf and get an 50! MB file out of that. The banner incorporates an pretty big .afphoto file (placed in AD). I placed this in AI too (but as .psd) - both are pretty much the same filesize. The only way to get down the filesize of the pdf in AD is to lower the jpg-quality in the extended export options - but this results in the expected quality loss... (and is never getting near the filesize AI does) Am i doing something wrong or is there an obvious reason for that behaviour that i am just missing? Thanks for any enlightenment :-) cpoh
  17. I constructed a beautiful looking multi-micrograph panel in affinity designer after manipulating raw tiff images in affinity photo. The panel looks fine and is attached A screen shot looks find and is attached When I export to pdf in order to submit to a journal, dark shadows appear over parts of the figure. I tried copying each panel into a new designer document but that didn't work. I figure there is some bizarre setting i've toggled on for some of the panels? 18. Export to PDF was working fine but towards the end of a session it stopped working. Progress bar doesn't progress and action has to be cancelled. Any thoughts? AD (Mac) v1.5.5 MacOS Sierra v10.12.3 L-0.8m-x-3.4m-Blade-Banner-Convex.afdesign
  19. Hi, I'm new to this forum and I haven't been able to find an answer to this particular issue. I'm working on a book cover in Affinity Designer and now I need to export my file to PDF for print. Due to transparency issues, I have to "flatten" the image before exporting. I found that to do so in AD, I first have to group and then rasterise. The only problem is that when I do this, the bleed is messed up. Instead of having the background extending into the bleed, it stops at the end of the document and the bleed is left as a white frame around the PDF (se attached picture). Is there a way around this? I can't change the dimensions of the document, and I need the bleed to ensure a correct print. Any suggestions?
  20. When exporting a file as a PDF I find that the output is always more bold than intended. JPEGs, PNGs, and other file extensions never have this issue but it always happens with the PDFs. Is there a way to save a PDF so this doesn't happen? I have tried different presets but nothing seems to correct it. Here's 2 image examples of the bolding issue.
  21. Hi How to keep overprint in the imported pdf file? I placed PDF with applied overprint to strokes and fils to AD file. After export to PDF X4 overprints (except black) failed. Any idea how to prevent it? Thank you for your help in this matter.
  22. When exporting, you can only tick the box for bleed to be included. On an ongoing project, I need to export different formats with different bleed options, i.e. 1mm vs. 3mm bleed. I was used to set a global bleed of 3mm in Illustrator and change the value to my liking when exporting to PDF. With Designer I need to fumble with the document’s bleed in order to change to and fro with 1mm and 3mm. Allowing for setting a bleed size in export settings would save me time again, and make Designer a little niftier than it already is :) .
  23. Currently having trouble exporting a compatible 3 x 20 ft banner to the print department at Staples. Not sure exactly what settings are necessary to produce a file that will show up on their computers even for preview purposes. I can see a preview on my mac, but on their PCs the files show up as blank. I've included the file in case it helps anyone to provide an explanation. I assume I have the wrong settings, but am also concerned if the size of the file is causing this problem. I appreciate your help! Bobbys Sign Red Checkered.afdesign
