At least in sculpt mode we should be able close shape by drawing on top of start point. And it should be merging with curve preservation and not closing with stright line between start and end.
It is really 1 essential thing that I need from current pencil tool.

+1 yes, please implement this. It would be a great timesaver and improve workflow tremendously. Thank you!

This would be very useful in a lot of cases

+1 for this feature. The node tool has a neat ‘snapping’ feature that you can use to close a path - we just need that same functionality when drawing to save extra work later.

Hi just updating this. I still haven’t found an auto close function but I did notice that you can tap the sculpt icon and draw over the gap to close it, which is a little easier than choosing the node select tool and pressing close path.

I would also like to see this happen. Not everyone uses the Pencil tool only with outlined shapes, some of us use it to create filled shapes and as it works currently it's next to useless because it does not properly resolve the closing bit of the shape. It would also be great if when the fill is selected the actual fill is not displayed while drawing. Some control of smoothing/node numbers would also be a welcome addition.

Hey there,
Congratulations on the release of designer iOS it’s awesome!
just wondering whether it would be possible to include an option to auto-close pencil strokes, rather than drawing a shape and then having to close the Shape manually, it would be a real time-saver.
cheers

+ Blend tool/command
Dave Dennis is right. The concept (hence the code) for a blend tool is 30 years old.
It's even in open source software. Here it is in the open source app, Inkscape:

I have a theory.
As much as I initially liked Affinity's concept, I fear that the company may be financed by Adobe and set out only to milk the market of potential users of a cheaper but seemingly also professional software with another price model. Once enough users bought it, it's enough and they don't develop vital functions any further to protect Adobe's flagship CS. Since you already bought Affinity, it's also useless to tell Affinity that you will switch back to Adobe, too.
I hope this is not the case.
But seeing that essential functions in both, Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer have not been integrated despite of so many user requests after more than 3 years (!) lets me doubt there is a real interest to establish a market leading graphic design software suit that can really go head to head with Adobe.
Just a speculation.
Would really love to hear from the folks from Affinity. I hope they can prove me wrong.

BLEND TOOL! Yes please! An Absolute must for design styles :)
Also great for advanced gradients.
When these key features will be integrated then I think we can really leave the 'other' app.
(Also a pattern maker would be great) Cheers!

kloudhandz reacted to R C-R in Am I the only one who did not know about this?
While editing an old eps file I had imported into Affinity Designer, I tried to use a Boolean Subtract to convert 3 curve layers to a single Curves layer with 2 transparent holes in it. I have done this a zillion times without problems but for these 3 curves what I got instead was no transparency, something like this:
It took me much too long to figure out why, but the reason is simple: by default, shapes are assigned the Alternate (Even-Odd) fill mode. For whatever reason, the shapes in the old eps file all used the Winding (Non-Zero) fill mode, which for subtractions like this one fill everything.

Scale & rotate of selected nodes is a feature of recent Mac customer betas (it is done via the Transform panel), so it is very high on the list.
