  1. I wonder is this a glitch - just combined a mix of shapes and the Align options have no effect at all?
  2. Struggling to find the options. I know they exist as an effect (fx) but can't seem to find a way to apply them to a stroked shape. Thanks in advance. S
  3. Why not expand/reduce the frame automatically?
  4. Currently AD lets me change lower case text to 'all caps' or 'small caps'. It won't go the other way. Occasionally you have huge chunk of text copied and pasted from another source that is 'all caps'. Currently forced to retype the whole shebang - usually introducing errors. A feature to change all to 'lowercase' would be great (see Freehand ;) ). Thanks S
  5. Small feature - badly missed. Almost 1st thing I missed when moving to AD. Please implement.
  6. There's been a slight improvement to the text tool - it now lets you move the text box when hovered over the top of the frame - without changing tool. I've been bangin on about hat since last year - so thanks! The BIG problem seems to be ADs notion that when you are working with text you are doing this exclusively to everything else. This is not the case. You are working on text - moving it into position, moving other objects around it, then changing the text again, tweaking other objects in relation to it and so on and so on… At the minute I have to switch tool each time. GIVE US A TOGGLE KEY FOE MOVE TOOL. Freehand had this worked out perfectly. Also - the text box still doesn't expand automatically as more text is created. Also - FREEHAND FEATURE REQUEST 2: pulling down the centres node at the bottom of the text frame = increase leading. Typographically speaking - AD has some way to go yet. Keep up the great work.
  7. Option to zero (0:0) the ruler both vertically and horizontally at any part of the page. Drag and drop - double click to reset to default. Please. S
  8. I used iView Media Pro for about 6 years when managing photographic library. It handled every type of file imaginable - it became an invaluable tool. It was hands down the best package available back then - nothing came close. Microsoft then acquired it and stopped supporting Mac which more or less killed it stone dead. It was bought from microsoft a number of years back and is now developed by PhaseOne. http://www.phaseone.com/en/Imaging-Software/Media-Pro/FAQ.aspx I've haven't used it since as I don't do that type of work any more but it's worth investigating. S
  9. Export the Freehand files as a PDF and open in AD - everything should pull through and the text remain editable.
  10. Hi quick Q about kerning. I don't seem to be able to adjust individual words or characters within a text frame. Seems I can only adjust the entire contents of a text frame? Is this correct? S
  11. I creating custom column guides and placing in a layer with opacity tweaked way down. Not ideal but OK for now.
  12. I'm sorry to keep banging on about this one. I want to create a text frame/box + move it into position WITHOUT having to break stride and go to the tool box. It's the most glaring fault to an otherwise superb application. If I could do this I'd swear I was working in the 2014 version of Freehand! A hotkey/keystroke is the most obvious solution. or Somewhere on the active frame to grab/grip and move into position. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! text frame.mov

    Cheatsheet

Quick (very) Cheatsheet of the available shortcuts. This is lifted straight from the "Help" section. For those who like to pin it to a physical wall - might help a few people get up and running. Affinity Designer Shortcuts.pdf
  15. I'm mostly using a 15" MacBook. The popup panels (Character/Paragraph) take up half the screen when opened. Any additional space or reorganisation would be welcome.
  16. My "move" and "pan" tools are getting stuck as well - already reported. Zoom in and out again seems to bring it to its senses but it's becoming a real pain. No reason why it shouldn't all scale - there's a "scale with object" check box in the "Stroke" panel you need to select. At present text will scale (I think the bug was fixed) As a FH user myself I find the selection methods really frustrating. In FH I got to the point where I never used the tool box - all achieved with keystrokes. I'm finding the endless trips to the toolbox tiresome - and the Move/Zoom* bug maddening. Great potential though - I'm sure it'll get there.
  17. Agree Rui - its crying out for a ruler displayed above a text box once selected.
  18. Any way of adding a Preview toggle on/off for adjustment layers? S
  19. That's what I was thinking. Thanks. I work around it until the 'victory' stuff gets implemented. :) S
  20. Hi, I want to use these 3 parallel lines to create curves and shapes - and remain parallel at all times. Is it possible in AD yet? Illustrator lets you do it by creating a custom brush. Freehand let you add multiple strokes to a vector to create the same effect. Can't see to figure this out in AD. S
  21. This is what the "Guides Layer" was used for in Freehand: • Create a circle/square/triangle/vector shape on the page. • Select it • Move it onto the Guide Layer • It became a guide, same colour/weight as vertical & horizontal guides.
  22. …also it would be nice if the position of the cursor was shown in the ruler as a small dotted line. It's usually all you need when working with curves - dragging a guide onto the page can be OTT and cause a lot of clutter. Another small feature that miss. GUIDES LAYER would be another welcome addition.
