    Yes, and maybe.

    Hey there!
Lastly when I was retouching a bunch of photos, I have used LUT's as part of my workflow. Found out that certain LUT's work superbly on "Average" blend mode. But that's not a core of the suggestion I've come with during this process.
I have a really big collection of LUT's, currently I use a LUT preview small photos I did on some example and based on that I try to select the one I would like to use in AP. But it's not really comfortable, and here comes the core of my request - to add some kind of gallery or organizer, that let you showcase the end result of LUT applied with a selected blend mode, and it doesn't crash such as preset tab when you have a ton of them there. It can be just a separate window, maybe even something similar to "filter gallery" in Photoshop. Or you can use simply a dropdown that you can scroll with your mouse roll and see the effect applied. Of course the separate window is the preferred option, but just an alternative that works is okay too.
So to summarize, a simple TLDR: The request is for a simple organizer or gallery of LUTs working with ton of them. I don't exactly recall when the preset window started to hang the app for a long time or even crashing it, but it is not working with a large amount of LUTs. 2 options suggested:
    1. Another window opening with a gallery with preview when you put a LUT adjustement layer
    2. A dropdown scrollable with your mouse roll in the LUT adjustement layer's window

Thanks for your superb software so far, keep it going Serif!

That was an intentional change in processing. I believe it was done because generating the previews takes a long time if you have a lot of LUTs installed, and Serif implemented the ability to import large numbers of LUTs in one operation. That made it more likely that users would install LUT packages of hundreds of LUTS (or more), and then experience the performance problem.
We don't know what additional changes they may make later. They could reinstate the previews, but unless they can first solve the performance problem that may require some additional option the user can set.
Until then, you need to know the names of the LUTs you want to use, or if you've installed a package of LUTs you may need to use that package's documentation (which should include preview images) to help you select the LUT you want.

    Welcome to the forums @lilhecky,
In AP you would import them via the LUT Adjustment. The files need to be *.3dl, .csp,.cube, or .look

    Hi justin b,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
Lightroom is a digital asset manager (DAM) coupled with a RAW converter/developer. It's designed to catalog/work/manage large libraries, apply the same settings to a bunch of photos, work with photosets etc. Affinity Photo is a RAW converter/developer and photo editing app. It was NOT designed to manage libraries/catalogs or work/apply the same settings to a set of images. It's more comparable to Adobe Camera RAW + Photoshop, where you open one (or a couple) RAW files in Adobe Camera RAW for global adjustements then move to Photoshop for localised edits (using selection, masks, channels etc). We do plan to release a DAM software later which will work seamlessly with Affinity Photo.

just today I took a quick look into Capture One 10 beta and looked at the On1 RAW browser features and it really seems as if you don´t have to fear much competition in the coming months or even years  ^_^ this being said it would be even more appreciated to actually get a great DAM App asap

    Mike,

I'm sorry - but this simply isn't true..

The Windows versions of both Affinity Photo and Designer have cost my / Matt's teams no significant time at all. The Windows guys have their own separate development crew - they all know precisely what they are doing and require no support / time from us at all.

I'll be straight with you here - the delays in the DAM project for macOS are due to our prioritisation of iOS versions of our existing products.

This might be controversial to some - but to me is it not. If we are able to produce a feature-for-feature, (very) high performance, Metal-accelerated, full version of Affinity Photo for iPad Pro, then that time is worth spending - even before releasing a public beta of an Affinity DAM product.

Our DAM application has already been started, and certainly will be finished - but as I have said in other threads, don't expect to hear anything significant from us about it until 2017.

    Hope this helps,

    Andy.

    Hi amazme1,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Lightroom is not a photo editor but a RAW developer. It's editing tools are not up to what Photoshop offers. Affinity Photo is both a RAW developer and photo editor.
We already announced plans for an Affinity DAM software which will work seamlessly with Affinity Photo.

The major function missing is most editors is digital asset management.  Lightroom is the one exception and therefore it is the most valuable photo editor because it catalogs and manages your photos.
When DAM is available for Infinity Photo, I will buy the product.  Until then, its just another photo editor.

Hi. I just 30min ago purchased the Affinity Photo (for Windows) as I find its stacking features very useful compared to others (and easier than some little more effective Open Source ones)  but really miss a good file management system.

The one reason why I little was hesitant to purchased Affinity Photo was that maybe there comes a some kind super deal/sale for Affinity Photo for its 49€ price when the DAM app gets released. But then I started to wonder that there isn't for Photo + Designer either, so why would for DAM?

But that wasn't the point of this reply, but just to raise a slight voice of opinion that the Affinity would look little after Open Source tool like digiKam for the file management system (like geolocation, tagging, search by content/name/metadata etc), how it is far more powerful than any Lightroom, Bridge, Capture One etc. And how it is directed to be used on all kind storage libraries (local, removable, network) and especially how it keeps all the files on those libraries so you can then use even plain file manager to browse files if so wanted, so you can do all the backups, control etc with any other software.

Even when such software is designed for the photographs, it is very powerful to be used with a other software that use image or video files like video editors, media players and vector graphic editors.

And I think that one huge possibility for Affinity is to make the DAM software work well with even competitors editors, as that puts it to computers of many other users and then open door to them to purchase the Affinity Photo and/or Affinity Designer when they already use excellent file management system from them.

Just for my 2 cents. :)
