  1. Oooh.. Alright. Why isn't that placed near the brush size / Opacity stuff? In my opinion; poor design to place it all over there. Looks less important. So what's the point with the "More" menu then? For the record; it works now.

  3. Hi, I am on Designer Pen pressure doesn't work with the vector brush. If I switch to pixel persona it works with the brush there. I'm at a loss of what to do. It should be intuitive and simple: More button -> select Pressure to drive Size variance. I have tried size variance at anything between 0% to 100% I have tried to enable and disable Windows Ink in the Wacom settings as well. Can anyone help me?
  4. While that is a workaround, it’s just that, a workaround, to a problem that shouldn’t be a problem at all. Besides, it’s not free. It adds a watermark to the image (according to their website at least), and the license is $30 or so. Could you imagine if we weren’t able to export PDF from Publisher, but could export to SVG, and had to find a third party solution to convert to PDF? It’s the same thing with TGA for us. It’s plain and simple a requirement for us.
  5. A photo library management tool/feature would be most welcome. I've previously used Bridge instead of Lightroom, I just didn't click with it. Bridge is really fast at what it does, and I'd love to see Affinity's take on something like it, and have it closely tied to Photo, where I could be able to copy-paste raw development settings from one photo to a bunch of others in a second.
  6. Great, hope they figure out something. Or perhaps could team up with nVidia (and possibly AMD if it behaves the same with Freesync) to make G-sync switched OFF by default when you install a new driver, for this app specifically. I think it is possible in the nvidia control panel, all though I switched it off globally.
  7. After fiddling a lot with GPU drivers (creator vs gaming drivers and versions of those) G-sync was disabled by accident, and I noticed the lagging was gone. So after a bit more testing I found out that when G-sync is set to work with windowed mode too, it became an issue with Affinity. The reason I thought it was an Affinity problem especially, and with Threadripper is I had recently built a brand new computer, and Affinity were the only apps that had this issue. 3D, video, compositing and other photo apps have not had this lagging issue at all. I tried recording it, but in the videos it played fine, which also goes to tell that it was a G-sync issue, not Affinity directly. Conclusion: enable G-sync only for full screen mode.
  8. Just to keep you updated; I did try 1.7, there was no difference. The mouse lags/stutters like crazy. It's like going from 60 fps to 20 or even 15 fps. If I click and drag to use a tool within the canvas, it improves a little bit, but a lot of the operation is within the layer window, the toolbox, going through menus for brushes, colors etc, not only the canvas.
  9. Mouse. I have a tablet too (Wacom Intuos 5) but haven't installed the drivers yet, thus not used it. The mouse is a Logitech G502.
  10. I recently built a new computer with a Threadripper 2920x CPU, except for that the rest of the system is exactly like the previous; 128GB RAM, RTX 2080 Ti and loads of storage capacity. The only difference between the old and the new is the old had an i7 5960x. The performance difference between these two computers in Affinity Designer and Photo is extremely disappointing. I searched a little bit and found similar discoveries with the previous generation Threadripper, but I didn't find any solution to the problem. What is the problem? The cursor is fluid and moves nice in Windows and other software like Modo, Maya, Photoshop etc, but in both Affinity Designer and Photo the cursor stutters or lags across the window. It's so severe it's impossible to work. Have anyone with Threadripper or Ryzen 5/Ryzen 7 experienced the same? I hope the dev team can take a look into this as well. For what it's worth I will record a snippet of video when I get a moment.
  11. I'm not primarily a user of DXF/DWG (but I've have had it occasionally making a couple drawings to 3D). All I can say is history repeats itself. I've been asking for another file format for a few years already. I feel the Affinity team is focusing too much on core tools, new and innovative tools, and fancy features, instead of crucial file format support. Hopefully the wind will turn and our long lost file support will be a thing!!

  15. Bumping this one. I think this wish of mine still holds true, and I'm certain you'd gain a bigger user base, seeing as there's a lot of modders and creative gamers on Steam who also like to do 3D modeling, painting, texturing..
  16. Lack of TGA is the biggest downside to Affinity Photo for me. And it's beyond me how they keep neglecting this request we've had for years. I don't know programming, but I can't imagine it will take so much time and effort that they don't see the value of it. It's a widely known and used format in many instances. Broadcast and games are the ones I can come up with right now, but these are potentially huge markets.
  17. Also, consider OBS. It's free. Can do all the recording you like. Record like 1 fps if you like, stores as a .mp4 file in whatever bitrate and resolution you like. Easy to manage and edit after in your favorite video editing software. https://obsproject.com/
  18. Here to raise my voice as well. Datasets from csv is highly required in part of my tasks. I'm making lower thirds for a live event these days (we're talking about 80 graphics with names, song titles or activity etc). I've previously done lower thirds for sports events where we've had up to 300 graphics that'd be presented over the course of two days. CSV, export dataset as image files.. Highly required. OH! And TGA.. because the ATEM video mixer takes TGA with alpha..
  19. Latest thing I read about this in another thread (but about TGA), is it's way down on the list (and by the looks of it, has been since 2016). It's starting to look like I'm that bitter old neighbor who hates kids, collect soccer balls they accidentally shoot over my side of the fence etc.. I'm really not. I am just frustrated as something as simple as this can be lacking from a popular (and in all other ways really good) piece of software. TGA + DDS export in 2019? Would be awesome. I tried Xnview (I could never get into the imagemagick website, it times out..) but there doesn't seem to be any options like flip, flop, mipmaps, which compression etc. So that leaves me with Photoshop, agian.
  20. Still no news about this. I am fighting the current works of channel packing. It's such a hassle and not the least bit enjoyable vs. how Photoshop handles this, which imho is the way to go. Crossing fingers there will be change in future updates.
  21. That's sort of the funny thing I see all over facebook in different 3D app/game engine groups. So much praise for Affinity from a group of users/fans, yet so little knowledge about drawbacks like this. It is simply outrageous. When I point it out to them that "yes, Affinity is cool and all that, but did you know.... TGA and DDS..." they react in shock and disbelief, some even try to defend Affinity for it. I'd love a STATEMENT from Affinity as to WHY they're not even thinking of adding DDS or TGA. A REASON I could reason with. For as long as we're kept in the dark, I will continue fighting this monstrosity.

  23. I'm shocked as there seems like we're talking to deaf ears.. Today I had a game model I had to edit, and the textures are only available in DDS. You, Affinity, are holding us back from using your awesome software at its full potential, and keep forcing your customers to go elsewhere (where we'd rather not be) to get the job done.
  24. I honestly never use Photo because I can't use it with game engines. It's as simple as that. I feel betrayed, as I can't even think of any other alternative that does not export TGA, yet the features and the price point for Photo was what lured me in. Devs, @Patrick Connor ; you really need to take this seriously. Besides, students and indies would most likely seriously consider Photo if it could be used for their game productions since the price is very competitive!
