  1. I think this is useful depending on how many layers you have for effects. If you have multiple effects on just one layer, it shouldn't be too time consuming. Hiding the effect in the Effects panel will not change its properties if shown later.

Something else you can try: If you use multiple layers, combine them into one to make a set of sublayers. Then in the route layer, add the necessary effects.

Hi, bleduc. Thanks for your attention.

Yes, the global layer effects switch is only useful when the layer has multi effects.

And I test the trick you've suggested:

the above rectangle's shadow disappear in the overlapped area of the two rectangles. This is different from layer effects on sperated layers.

There is difference between the two methods.

  2. Hey seabirdr,

I've noticed you can make the mouse move a tiny bit before the object moves when snapping is on and you get a duplicate. I maybe wouldn't expect this. If I turn snapping off, the object moves with the mouse, even with a tiny movement. I would expect this to duplicate.

forgot to post my previous post. it is here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/27620-disable-ctrldrag-duplicating-objects/

I have been drawing an android UI whole day with AD windows and surely snapping was turned on. When almost finished, I checked the layers&object and was shocked by so many repeating objects. Which I found late is caused by unwanted ctrl+dragging.

  3. The mouse shouldn't need to stop, it's a bug in the Windows version of Affinity. The macOS version works well so that's why this shouldn't be a new feature to disable it. If you make a post in the bug section of the Windows beta then they will fix it for you.

Thanks for your help. I've reposted this porblem here:https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/27624-when-ctrlclicking-slightly-movement-triggers-duplicating/

Since ctrl+dragging and alt+dragging both duplicate objects. Normally I  choose one as daily use. the other one actually is abandoned. So an option to enable/diable them makes sense.

  4. When Ctrl+clicking to select the object, very tiny mouse movement triggers object duplication.

I've posted in Feature request here(https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/27620-disable-ctrldrag-duplicating-objects/), hoping  an option to disable ctrl+clicking to select objects.

TonyB said this is a bug, and suggested me to repost this problem here.

Any improvement is appreciated. Thank you.

  5. It should only duplicate if the mouse moves a long way or you hold the mouse button down for a long time. What version and platform are you running on and what kind of pointing device are you using?

If there is a problem then we should fix it instead of offering to disable it.

It was Affinity Designer windows 1.5.0.29 and I was using logitech G100s mouse. I tried on another PC with a different mouse, got the same problem. Very slightly movement causes duplicating. I believe you can repeat it on your device.
