  1. I may just add that the errant images can then be moved on top of the Master layer in the Layers panel. Very useful!
  2. Publisher Beta 1.8.0.499: Shift +Mouse wheel does not move view sideways as in Version 1.7 , but zooms in/out just like Mouse wheel alone. The beta now takes Ctrl+Shift+Mouse wheel to pan left/right.
  3. They will import fine if you open the pdf from Publisher - not insert or place in an existing Publisher document. Then you change the page size using File, Spread setup. The crop marks are even on a separate layer as is the trim.
  4. Thanks, Pauls! That solved my quandary. I did not know of the ability to edit detached - very useful!
  5. Publisher v. 1.7.3.481 on Windows 10 Home, 64-bit. I am producing magazines, importing Word files and/or clean, unformatted text, inserting mainly .jpg files. On several occasions, an inserted or placed image will suddenly not be "reachable", instead being displayed as belonging to a master page. That means that I am no longer able to move, edit, crop, replace or even remove the image. The Layers panel displays the image as belonging to the master page where it should not be. I cannot delete or move it from the Layers panel. The master page itself seems unchanged and OK and does not contain the errant image. The trouble is that it seems to happen randomly even to other - but not all - single images than the one currently being worked on, forcing me to step back and lose any intermediate work done to my whole document. If I discover the problem in time... Here is a screenshot of how the image is shown (on the left) as if on a master page and in the Layers panel under Master page. Also, the text element shown under the image in the Layers panel is also errant as seen in the next screenshot. When opening the original .afpub file, please note that the bridge image on page 18 is an image placed on top of the offending image (my workaraound!) NytOmGammelt2019-04.afpub
  6. I respect that, Bob, and understand your frustration. However, I have worked professionally with software costing millions of dollars with major glitches that were never ironed out. I have worked with collegues on the same large Microsoft Word file using the same version of Word on the same network and time and time again seeing the formatting of the whole document messed up because of the software - not the users. I guess my age has taught me to get upset about other things in life... I have produced some very satisfactory magazines using Affinity Publisher - also experiencing annoying bugs along the way. But I am still happy!
  7. Few software companies that I have come across since 1986 work as hard as the Affinity team to resolve issues. So give them a chance to find solutions!
  8. Excellent! Thanks for sharing! :-)
  9. Or - even easier- simply type in 2 mm, 4 mm or whatever instead of "0 px" shown below. It will automatically be translated into pt.
  10. I have opened your vector file which looks fine. Exported as PDF which also looks perfect...
  11. That was new to me. Thank you, although I will be hoping for an even better solution...
  12. Unfortunately, the text insertion cursor is still all but invisible i Publisher.
  13. Thanks, Serif! Obviously you have not had time for summer holidays... :-)
  14. No - I have not yet advanced to that stage! I will return later with fresh info...
  15. Try changing the Edit - Preferences -General - and check the option Insert filler text as text.
  16. The filler text had me confused at first as it could not be formatted or changed, but there is a very useful option in Edit - Preferences - General - Insert filler text as text. Then filler text can be formatted, reduced or treated like any other ordinary text.
  17. Very strange. I cannot reproduce it. It cannot be a frame setting as this would affect both columns. Does the same thing happen if you use real text instead of Filler text?
  18. I believe Filler text is being used. It does NOT behave like other text and should be deleted by clicking the checked menu Text - Insert flller text.
  19. Or zip the PDF and add a password. Both WinRAR and 7-Zip can do it.
  20. Once more panels are docked, their titles are automatically abbreviated. I am sure that, with frequent use of Publisher, they will be learnt but I suggest mouse-over "tool tips" to appear with their titles when they are abbreviated.
  21. I tend to agree with Walt. My professional printer (the biggest printer in my country) asks for individual pages in the PDF print file, not spreads. Thus it does not seem to be an issue. In-house may be different - I have not had the time to test that. Too busy layouting in Publisher!
  22. Nothing keeps you from continuing to run PagePlus alongside Affinity Publisher for existing publications - neither is by subscription (). I, for one, am happy to have access to alle the new features of Publisher and do not wish to go back to PagePlus despite its features. Importing from legacy products rarely seems to work flawlessly (try Quicken or even Lightroom for example...). Embrace progress! :-)
  23. I experience the same, just using Publisher's filler text and Times New Roman. Even double clicking in the text frame produces the crash. On a positive note, it is a benign crash that does not seem to corrupt the file. It may have something to do with linked text frames containing filler text. I can only remove the filler text by unlinking the text frames. That does not produce a crash.
  24. I don't mind the name (other terms like "leading" will be confusing to most people unfamiliar with the use of lead in old-fashioned typesetting tecniques). But I love the flexibility and created my own paragraph style for Fact boxes.
