  1. Some bugs spotted in AP 1.6 beta so far: Lighting filter (both live and destructive) reacts badly when adjusting the handles. If you click slightly besides the blue handles and drag, the configuration distors itself and the lighting configuration "umbrella" transforms into a straight line. The "double tap to adjust size" is buggy with Frame Text tool. Sometimes, it tends to make break lines when adjusting the width. When font size is changed using the far right-bottom handle, then the "double tap to adjust size" starts to work totally randomly making the frame size and font size absolutely unpredictable (yes, it also changes the font size!). The "File has been modified" save dialog tends to pop out repeatedly even if "Save" button has been pressed before and the file has actually been saved.
  2. I often switch between monitors and sometimes I get into troubles when leaving a panel undocked (Brushes, for instance). The panel tends to be too big for the other monitor and hides its header above the screen top. Then, only View -> Studio -> Reset studio helps to move the panel into place, but it also takes some time to set the studio back to the configuration I'm used to use. So it would be nice to have a "Dock" option in the context menu on all the studio panels. The functionality would be simple: just docking the panel to its default group. This applies for both Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. Thanks for consideration ;)
  3. Actually, there are still plenty of reasons to have images optimized and stripped from unnecessary data (images for e-mailing, mobile websites, apps that download images on-line over mobile connections, that are not everywhere as fast as 3G/LTE, not mentioning data limits from mobile operators...). As an update for ImageOptim (https://imageoptim.com/mac) mentioned above: current version supports both lossless and lossy optimization for both PNGs and JPEGs. I use this very often, sometimes along with ImageAlpha as well (when I need more control over how the PNG gets compressed). ImageOptim is clean & easy to use. Several tens or hundreds of PNGs exported from AD/AP are compressed with one drag'n'drop in one batch. Extremely efficient for my use cases (asseets for mobile apps, mainly).
  4. Hi , as a workaround for this, I would recommend exporting (lossless) PNGs and them convert them to BMPs as a batch using Adapter: https://macroplant.com/adapter
  5. OK, this is not any pro drawing, but I feel like sharing it with you :) My little daughter (she'll be 5 the next week) loves My Little Ponnies so she was excited to design something similar by herself. Actually, I did the most of the drawing according to her instructions - she's more used to touch screens and a track pad is still somehow strange to her :)
  6. Exactly as MEB said. Thanks!
  7. I have also downloaded the "purple car" to disk, opened it in Affinity Photo and it's still purple. No matter what color profile I assign to it. I think it must be the petapixel's image...
  8. Thanks for all the valuable resources! I managed to configure FF to be color-managed (using my Thunderbolt Display profile in one of the settings), some tests went well after restart (such as this http://cameratico.com/tools/web-browser-color-management-test/),but here I still see a purple car instead of an orange one: https://petapixel.com/2012/06/25/is-your-browser-color-managed/ Weird :/
  9. I have assigned "\" and "Y" ("Z" on english keyboards) keys to rotate the canvas left / right. It's quite convenient and fast. Even if I need to rotate by 90°, it's a matter of a second. Just look for "Rotate Right" and "Rotate Left" in Settings -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> View section.
  10. Hi all, please, is there a way, how to configure Affinity Photo not to preserve the same settings for different tools? Concrete example: I often use Inpainting Brush together with Clone Brush Tool, but I need them to have different settings (e.g. Inpainting with 100% opacity and 80% hardness, whereas Clone Brush Tool needs to be set to 50% opacity and 0% hardness). Of course, changing the settings every time I exchange the tools is quite time consuming... Currently, these tools share the same opacity / hardness / flow settings. Is there a way how to change it? Thanks!
  11. Hi all, First, I do have to aplogize I have only vague knowledge of ICC profiles and how they exactly work, but I spotted a fairly strange behaviour with Affinity Photo. I often use some internet images, photos, logos, etc. (Being careful about the copyrights, of course!) I copy them right from the browser and then use "New from Clipboard" in AP to create a new document and edit the image. However, the new document (image) has different colours in comparison with what is seen in the browser. I realized that the new document has "Generic RGB profile" assigned. When I assign a different profile, like "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" or "Apple RGB", the colours get somehow closer to the original, but not exactly. On the other hand, when I first download the image to disk and then open in it AP, the colours are OK - the same as in the browser. What should I do to preserve the colours when copying the image right from the web? Is there any kind of configuration that would take care of that? Or is this a bug in AP? Thanks for any advice.
  12. Hi David4, In my experience, inpainting tool works in the way that it tries to find "similar" areas within the image and the uses them to fill the area that should be replaced. Sometimes it happens to pick such areas, that contains other "unwanted" elements. I often use inpainting to remove titles from movie posters. It's not an exception, that the inpainting tool actually places for instance actor's surname instead of his first name, because those two parts of the pixel layer are more or less on the same background. In such cases, I try the inpainting again, with some experimenting: removing letter by letter, removing both first name and surname at once, etc. I hope this will work for you, too. Saying that, the clone tool works better in some cases. I usually combine these two tools in my workflow. First, I use the inpainting brush to get rid of the rough elements I do not want in the image, then I use the clone tool to fine-tune the details so the result is visually appealing - e.g. to remove additional subtle things like jpeg artifacts the inpainting tool has left in place.
  13. Very decent job! I'd put some more work to the typography and overal layout, though. In my opinion, the labels tend to interfere with the decorative patterns in the corners somehow... Something like this, maybe..?
  14. Please, would it be possible to add a "double click to adjust size" feature to certain elements? The idea is like this: - double click on bottom center handle of a Frame Text would adjust it's height according to currently contained text (extremely useful when aligning / distributing variable-height text elements that require same vertical spacing between them). The alternative is to make frame text's height dynamic as it is with art text. - double click on art board's bottom or right handle would adjust art board height / width according to its content (oh, please, do this! Resizing many art boards manually is a tedious task with a lot of zooming...) - etc. (maybe other elements' autosize feature would make sense, too) Thank you for considering!
  15. Hi devs! I'd like to ask for a specific feature regarding art boards. In current versions, when nudging elements around in an art board with cursor keys (but with mouse and Move Tool as well), the elements are released from the artboard when being pushed too far beyond its boundary. At certain design tasks, like creating a large set of similar phone screens with partially hidden content, it's quite difficult to stay organized as the elements pushed beyond the screen boundaries "jump out of the art board" and gets somehow lost in the layers panel. So here's the "simple" solution: make art boards behave more like a shape. When e.g. a rectangle contains some elements (texts, other shapes...), they are never kicked out of the rectangle in the layers panel, no matter whether they are completely off the boundaries of the rectangle (thus not visible on the screen). I guess such a behaviour may be also configurable in Settings, if you prefer so. Thanks for considering!
  16. Actually, I'd like the element to stay contained within the art board, but beyond the visible area - i.e. the same behaviour as in case of shapes that contain other shapes / texts etc. When for example an art text is being nudged within a rectangle, it gets correctly clipped by rectangle shape and even if it is completely "outside" its boundaries, it still stays contained in it (in the layers panel). I would expect the same behaviour also from art boards. But thank you, I'll post a feature request :)
  17. I'm not sure whether this a feature or bug, but is it somehow possible NOT to automatically release the elements from an artboard, when they are being nudged around (with keyboard arrows) off the artboard borders? Thanks for info.
  18. It would be nice to be able to set a shape's stroke blend mode independently from the shape fill. Example: a square with "Normal" fill and "Erase" stroke would do great in such designs as this: Thanks for considering! :)
  19. Sirs, you should seriously reconsider this "Beta has expired" feature. It's been discussed here many times and I dare to guess that this is rather annoying thing for many users. There are plenty of us using the beta versions on regular basis, with presets, brushes, etc. It's really cumbersome to make regular MAC version running the way we use beta. Is there any valid reason why the beta should expire unless there is a newer beta available? On a flattering note: you've managed to release rather stable betas over time, so in my experience (using AD/AP betas on daily basis) there's no real need to prefer MAC versions over betas. Thanks for considering.
  20. Again on this topic - it seems Lock Children switch is only effective, when Move tool is active. This seems to me rather as inconsistency, too. Provided that the Lock Children switch is global, it should have the same effect no matter if Move tool or other tool (e.g. Art Text) is active during resizing.
  21. Well, Lock Children still behaves confusingly & there's also one suggestion. 1) The inconsistency: when Lock Children = OFF, an art board's size can be changed by dragging top/bottom/lef/right holders without changing content size. When Lock Children = ON, the content size changes. The behavior should be IMHO the opposite - the same as with shapes like rectangles. 2) The suggestion: Lock Children now seems to be global switch, not sticking with particular shape / art board. This seems to be rather good idea as changing it per shape could generate some more confusion. Anyway, it would be very handy to have a keyboard shortcut to toggle this switch. Would it be possible to add it? Maybe the "Miscellaneous" group in Keyboard Shortcuts Settings..? Thanks for considering :)
