  1. I understand exactly what you mean hudson2800. I find this a bit frustrating as well. What I find helps for more of an illustrator layer workflow is to create and name your layers first using the "add layer" button on the bottom of the layers panel - ie line, colour and sketch, than before you create an element make sure you "target" or click on the layer you want the element to be on in the layers panel. It will put the element on the layer you clicked on. Same goes for artboards. If you have artboards, target or select the artboard before creating the element and the element will reside on that artboard. To move an element from one layer to another layer, cut (Cmd or Ctrl X) the element from one layer, select the layer you want it to be on and paste (Cmd or Ctrl V). It will remove it from the unwanted layer and place it in exactly the same place on the desired layer. By creating and naming your layers or artboards first it also helps to keep things nice and organized. Hope this helps. It's not exactly the same as illustrator but it tends to keep the layers panel from getting out of control.
  2. Yep that would be nice to have. Procreate has the warp feature that gives a similar result to this albeit in a very different way.
  3. Hey Jhon, it's interesting to see you working in the desktop version of the app in this video preview. I have been checking out a lot of your iPad videos on YT as I just picked up an iPad pro and am trying to wrap my head around working in AD on it. Do you have any videos specific to people transitioning from AD on the desktop to AD on the iPad?
  4. Gotcha thanks, here's hoping that it gets looked at for the next update.
  5. Any news on this Chris, using designer on the 12.9 ipad is almost unusable for me with the current size and darkness of the ui?
  6. I agree, the UI is a bit too dark and icons are way too small and too fine in appearance. Please either bump them up for the next update or add a preference for users to make size adjustments. It's currently borderline unusable. Thanks!
  7. That's because they are already assigned by Designer for the opacity settings. I mapped my designer/photo persona toggle to the shift>tilde keys, works great.
  8. Just found this topic while searching for an answer on this as well. What I found works really well but is a bit of a departure from the lens filter adjustment is to actually used the replace colour feature. It changes the whole documents base colour and has HSL adjustments that allow you to dial in any monochromatic look or colour you want.
  9. Hey Affinity team, any progress on this topic? I am working with multiple artboards and would love to drag guides across all of them simultaneously to line up some elements common to all of the artboards...
  10. I agree with a lot of what you are all saying. I've been using Designer professionally since 2014 and would love to hear from the team more than we do on stuff they are working on or ideas they are thinking about for the future of these applications. I'm not talking about firm dates on upcoming features. That sort of stuff can wait until they are good and ready to share, no, just a little bit more behind the scenes contact with their user base would be nice from time to time. I would think that would be part of community building, an integral part of any company offering a product or service. I think they could be doing a better job at these sorts of things. Spotlight is great and the Affinity Youtube channel is starting to get some love but it would be nice to get a sense of where this ship is heading once in a while. Having said that, I for one really hope some of the long standing requests/issues/features mentioned (by Serif and others) going back years now are either being addressed or at least discussed behind the closed doors at Serif HQ. I'm assuming they are cooking up some good stuff (2.0?), I hope I'm not wrong. Some of us have been in the waiting room a long time. Edit: the below link is a great example of the sort of thing I am talking about. It's a link to Blenders latest roadmap from October 2021. https://code.blender.org/2021/10/blender-3-x-roadmap/
  11. Yes I can see Global Layers as a good solution for APub but for Designer a simple pin layer in position per document or per artboard is what I'm needing. How do you see global layers working in Designer?
  12. I think the ability to add a pin to a layer to keep it from moving in the layer stack would be a welcomed feature. I often use a reference layer at the top of the layer stack set to multiply at 50% as a guide for my work. I find myself having to move this layer back to the top often and a way to pin it would be ideal. The addition of a small pin icon or the option in the layer panel flyout to lock the layer position in the stack would be a simple way to implement it.
  13. I would like this feature as well. I often use a reference layer at the top of the stack with a multiply mode at 50% opacity. I am constantly having to move this layer to the top of the stack as I add new layers. The ability to pin a layer would be ideal.
  14. Crap, yep this is happening to me as well. I am using the 2:1 isometric grid setup. I will try that fix. Thanks.
  15. Hmm, interesting. I wonder if this was what the devs were thinking artboards might possibly get used for by allowing them to be stacked in that way...?
  16. Yes this is a complication. Although personally I would never engage in such tomfoolery.
  17. August 2021. A quick fix to this would be a dropdown in the layers panel to reverse the order of all artboards. I had to do this today manually because my pdf export came out reversed to what I was expecting. Or a preference to choose how when you create a new artboard if it is placed below or above the previous artboard. Also as a side note, when duplicating an artboard it would be handy if Affinity would append a different name and move the duplicated artboard. Currently it keeps the exact same name and adds the duplicated artboard directly on top of the original. This is just asking for problems imo.
  18. I would like to do this as well using the 2:1 triangular grid to import tiles into Unity for an isometric tileset. If this was possible it would be a game changer, I can't find any way to do this out there and I think a fair number of people could use this...
  19. Would love a way to perform a grid slice to slice up a document for import into Unity as an isometric tileset of a static background.
  20. Nice work Metin! Great take on Mario.
