  1. confirmed that the files from gridcalculator.dk crash Affinity Designer.

I'm not sure the file will work for you even if it did import correctly - as the grid is constructed with guides and they are not imported into Affinity Designer.

The document can be set up in Designer though.

Start a new document and use your document size - Document Units: Pixels - Dimensions: 1076 px x 700 px - DPI: 96 - click OK

With the new document open go to the top Menu Bar and click - View - Guides Manager

On the Guides window - Under the Column Guides enter:

    Columns: 12   -    Style: Outline

    Rows: 1

    Gutter: 20 px

    Margins: Left: 20 px - Right: 20px

    press the close button.

Be sure to enable Snapping using the Magnet Icon.

    hope that helps

  2. The image from the IrfanView main program or it's Thumbnail Viewer can't be dragged onto the open active document but you can drag the image onto either the open file name or Layers Tab (the actual Layers tab - not the list of layers) and a new document will open.

or you could add Affinity as an external editor in IrfanView and then use the short cut listed in IrfanView to send the image to Affinity  > IrfanView - Options - Properties/Settings - Miscellaneous -  Set external editors - browse to Affinity Photo.exe.

I think this is an issue with IrfanView as Dragging and Dropping a file onto an open image works as expected when using - Windows File Explorer, Corel Connect, Adobe Bridge, Zoner Photo, P3dO Explore, Microsoft Photo Gallery etc.. even the now defunct Serif PhotoPlus organiser can ;)...

The cropping is caused by the Lens correction which is inevitable. The non-Lens correct image has a slight darker vignette in the corners. The Lens Correction is trying to correct that from the Lens, but doing too much, so appearing to bright. The cropping is also noticeable using Photoshop when applying Lens correction, however they do correctly remove the vignette.

The image the Windows Photo is showing is the non lens-corrected RAW.

From the screen shot - Windows Photo has the 'Automatically enhance your photos' feature turned on, so the image appears overly processed, which makes a comparison slightly more difficult, as it's not how the default RAW image looks.

  4. All the people making the decisions are aware of the comments. The main issue for us is the introductory offer is cheaper than any Serif software update has been to date. People have said the price is very fair but they would like other people to pay more. I think that says more about the people complaining than our strategy for the launch offer on Windows. Also, It was actually the revenue from the Mac sales that have paid for the Windows development of Affinity, perhaps we should give them a discount.

    I don't think it's people complaining.

When the 'Plus' range was removed from active development an announcement was made that current Serif Customers would get a discount on the new Affinity Range, those customers are now asking if they will get the promised discount and if it's the same discount that is now being offered to everyone.

    Seems like a valid question.

I also find it a little sad that you've used the term 'people complaining', those 'people' are your customers and for some of them it's been almost 20 years of being your customers

  5. I posted this in another thread in July on importing Affinity into CorelDraw but i'll put it here as well as this till seems to be ongoing:

CorelDraw X5, X6, X7, and X8 can import up to Acrobat 9 (PDF 1.7), it can also import PDF/A and some PDF/X

Corel say they support Adobe programs up to CS6

For information - CorelDraw can open an Acrobat 9 (PDF 1.7) that is exported from Serif DrawPlus, so I don't think it's entirely a problem with CorelDraw

  6. It is indeed funky, I reported the swatches failure to apply correctly when version 1.5.0.8 was released and again with 1.5.0.10 I think it was.

although for me the way the Recent swatch feature functions is slightly annoying, i hate that the last colour swatch is removed when replaced by a previously used colour and having it separated from the current Document swatch pallet just means you have to keep switching to get back colours lost from the recent tabs - lol think i'm just to finicky

  7. Hi. they probably come under tablet hot keys or tablet Virtual Keyboard.

Tablets already have virtual keyboards so you can enter ctrl/shift etc... when using photoshop, affinity etc

I only know about MadLock as I found it while looking for Keyboard macro software as I use two keyboards (for typing and assigning hotkeys)

A couple of others i quite like are -

    quickbuttons - https://www.mjtnet.com/quickbuttons.htm

    Funky Bar - http://www.funkybunnies3d.com/tools.php#funkybar

There are also a few art specific add ons for AutoHotKey - like ArtDock for surface pro and Radial Menu - AutoHotKey is quite powerful but was more than i needed for own requirements

  8. Apply a Pantone > As per the Serif Pantone video - Create two objects, fill one using a Pantone swatch colour, select second object, click the previously used pantone swatch - colour does not apply

Edit a Global Pantone > Fill object with Pantone swatch colour, click + edit to edit the colour on the swatch tab and nothing happens and fly out menu doesn't open so can't chose to edit the colour. But you can edit using the button on the Colours Tab

  9. Affinity seems to be either ignoring or overriding the Canon Printer settings.

On the Canon MG5150 & MG7750 if I set the page to print Border-less Affinity prints the page with the printers built in  default borders.

I've tried changing the Affinity document setting to let the printer control the output but it still prints with boarders.

This is even stranger as Affinity fails to set up a new document using the 'Retrieve Margins from printer' command, but is quite happy to print these borders and ignore the printers boarder-less settings. Shrug

  10. Not sure if bugs go here or in a new thread

Seems to be something odd happening when selecting Pantone swatches:

Select a Pantone swatch that is a Global Colour - change my mind choose a different colour - decide I actually want to use the first colour I picked - but when I pick the colour it is no longer a Global colour and can't be edited

Is this how it should work?

edit to add - One of the serif videos mentioned that pantone colours are always Global colours but quite a few of the swatch pallets aren't -  so are some Glabal and other not? because that would be quite confusing after the serif video states that they all are.

  11. Thanks, adi, we'll take a look. The current build has just left development so you won't see any change in that, but hopefully soon. :)

You're welcome. We only use the little canon for previews and use our own page guides if needed, so happy to wait for future updates
