  1. Fadi, there are some problems with the boolean functions but this looks weird compared to anything else I have seen.  Are you subtracting the dark blue from the green, or the black, etc.?  Or is it something else?  Maybe a video might help.  Can you provide more info and that section of your drawing to see if it can reproduced?  Actually the sliver looks like it was left when subtracting the black from the green.  And it's just on top of the dark blue.

Is there a way to automatically align the manually adjusted Transform Origin point of multiple pictures? If no, is there a function in Affinity Photo to put a mark somewhere in the pictures and align all these marks of all the photos? I hope my question is clearer now. Stacking is not what I'm looking for.

Let me offer one way, but I think it's more work than just "reducing opacity and align manually".  I'm assuming all the pictures are in one document otherwise you wouldn't be able to just "reducing opacity and align manually".

Say you had several pictures and all had one certain person in it.  And you wanted to align the pictures so the center of that person's right eye was aligned in all regardless of the picture size and placement of the person in the picture.

Draw a small circle or square shape using the ellipse or rectangle tools, holding down the shift and cmd keys to keep it's ratio even.  Have the fill color be empty so you can see through the shape.  Center this shape on that person's right eye.  Group the layer for this shape with the picture.  Click on the shape layer in the group.  Then in the Transform panel make sure the center is selected and the ratio is locked.  Change the W or H to a size that is big enough that it will completely encompass even the largest picture and make it a nice round number.  The center of the large shape will now be directly over the right eye of that person.

Do this for all pictures using the same size for the transformed shape.  So they will be in separate groups but grouped with the exact shape that is centered on the person's right eye in that picture.

Then select all the groups and using the alignment tools align the groups horizontally and vertically.  If the shapes totally encompass the pictures then they will all be aligned on the person's right eye.  Move them as desired with only selecting all the groups.

It's a pain but it does what you are asking about.

Is there any way to create for example a square and change the stoke thickness only at the bottom of the square in Affinity Designer?

What PixelPest showed except squaring off the pressure profile is the closest thing possible for what you ask.  But it's not perfect for sure.  Hard to get rid of the artifacts in the corners.  The 2 rectangles or a rectangle and a mask look better.

Also there is no logic usability-wise to hide it in 1-column mode - hence Adobes smaller model used in many workflows. Always there, handy. Unlike the studio-tab mess.

The reason is that it is wider than the single width column allows, so it only shows in multiple width columns.

Like CodyHill says for all my color decisions I go to the color panel which is top right of the screen.  So it doesn't make sense to me to go to the middle left of the screen to toggle or empty the color disks when it can be also done in the top right.  Whatever works for you is what you should use.

Obviously I have used it more and wider for what... 25 years... In Photoshop et al. When hiding all the annoying studio bars it is an elegant place to have access to it AND to monitor if black or white is selected. Especially when working with masks. It is there for a reason in Photoshop, Illustrator and Affinity.

I've used PS since version 5.  You have your opinion and I have mine.

  6. Is your text still in text or has it been converted to curves?  If it hasn't been converted then I'm surprised you would see that.  But if it has been converted try changing the Layer>Fill Mode to non-zero.  If it hasn't I have no idea.

I just downloaded quicksand and did find that the issue only exists if the letters are converted to curves.  The Fill mode does cure the issue.

This is related to the direction the shapes were drawn in, and how that has an effect on the way Alternate and Winding work. It will also be the reason others have not replicated it.

If you enable 'Show orientation' on the toolbar for the Node Tool and zoom into the curves you will see that one Curve direction is anti-clockwise, and the other is clockwise. No matter what you do changing the fill mode will not work. The gap there will always cause it to have a value of 0, so non-zero (known as Winding) will not work, and even-odd (Alternate) will cause it to be an even number making the gap appear.

If you reverse the direction of one of these curves, then you can make the gap disappear by using the Winding fill mode as it will then give it a value of 1 (therefore non-zero).

The best way I've found that describes these principles is here:

Wow, good to know thanks Sean.  Really makes a difference with non-zero.  That explains a couple problems I had in the past but I just redrew them and they were gone.

I have Affinity Publisher, Designer and Photo and love them but I am having an issue with active fonts not showing in Designer and Photo. I am on a mac and using Extensis Fusion. I activate fonts and when I go to either Photo or Designer the fonts I have activated are not available but are available in Publisher. Seems very strange

    Hope you can help

    Thanks

Can you list a few of the fonts that aren't showing.  Maybe we can find out if others have the problem with the same fonts.  I know a couple years ago I added a set of 6 PLTS fonts and 4 of them were showing while 2 weren't.  Sometime months later they finally started showing.  I've had a few others like this over the years.

When I try to type text on a path it's backwards, like it's being reflected in a mirror ( see attached ). I have no idea why this is happening and it's driving me crazy. Any help would be very much appreciated.

What is your baseline for the text set to?  Without a negative baseline I can't get my text to do what you are seeing.
