  1. Thank you very much. There are just so many options for exporting, I don't know what does what. Having sRGR applied to the ICC Profile fixed my problem. That is exactly what I will use from now on. I do question why copied objects and selections have their colors change when they are pasted in another program. Without them yet being exported, it doesn't make sense to me. Might that be a bug?
  2. I know it is not the recommended way to work, but I always work in RGB because of the more lively color values. But when I export an image to a PNG, my file is converted to what looks like a CMYK image. It is the same if I copy part of the file and paste it in a program like Paint. Is there any way I can export an RGB file to an RGB picture? I'm aware that there is an option when converting files to PDFs that allow an sRGB to maintain the value, but it doesn't look like I can do the same with PNG export. And why is the clipboard selection duller if it wasn't exported yet and just copied?
  3. Just to be clear, the thing that makes up B-splines (baseline curves) is to have the nodes as a box around the selected object. It is for reducing the amount of nodes. Here is a video example of what I mean by redrawing paths. https://sendvid.com/6t5twji7
  4. A bug here I picked up on is that any layer can edited and painted on whether or not it is locked. By the way......Holy cow! There is so much to this program.
  5. Thank you very much for the list, Onur. This topic may just turn into a good source for research now. B-Spines are very similar to the Smart mode Pen Tool, but it's bezier curves are caged in. See in this example. Drawing over a part of a line while the path is selected will update that part to match the new mouse action. (Does that make sense?) Thank you, and yes, this is comparison to DrawPlus X8.
  6. Yeah, actual vector brushes would be nicer. You're not seeing it? I forget the exact name, but look at all of your options for the pencil tool. There is a drop down menu to turn "None" into "Pressure."
  7. I just want to throw out my feedback for the UI in Designer, it is the first thing that sold for me. Even though Xara goes very deep with its features, I am not fond of its interface. I just wish that Designer would have more contrast to selected tools and options. Aside from that, I really hope it doesn't change. Is that so? I brought up Xara in another topic. I didn't realize they are not being developed anymore.
  8. Maybe that's a new feature in Illustrator then. I still have CS6, and this is not working for me. For this, however, there is a feature that enables pressure sensitivity to the pencil tool so you don't have to change the profile afterwards. (My beta trial has expired, so I don't remember the exact option, but I think it is under "Controller" when you have the pencil tool selected. One of the options is "Pressure." It's a bit extra work, but do this to create your own brush.
  9. I don't know anything about Swift Publisher. All I know is that I came across that alternative when I was looking for alternatives to InDesign at the time. The first thing that sold for me is the UI, but I really can't give my say in the matter other than I like the way it looks. Even though we are discussing different good publication programs, I respect that some people are looking for more professional tools. It is definitely not easy to find. For all the times I searched for alternatives to Illustrator before the release of Affinity, I was given such awful results. Anything free or cheep is most of the time never what the designer is looking for, but it takes over the internet. I would take Serif over Xara any day, myself. The reason I brought it up is because the Plus range is coming to a complete close. That way, I thought it would be appropriate to bring up the next best thing since Affinity Publisher is practically a year away for release. Also, even though the price for Xara's layout program is still expensive, it is far cheaper than their other programs.
  10. I haven't used it for myself, but Xara Page & Layout Designer seemed to have gotten excellent reviews. On TopTenReviews of 2016, it made it in 2nd place with Serif PagePlus appearing in first.
  11. It doesn't just work with strokes from the pen tool but also the pencil tool. But what do you mean the feature is in Illustrator? Profiling only works on line strokes like pen and pencil. It doesn't work on brush strokes. I was always so upset about that, because I loved the width tool.
  12. Even though the Affinity products are made by the same crew of Serif, the two publishers have different account systems. There is a button to get an account right on top of the forum when you are signed out. But may I ask why you want to know that if you are already posting?
  13. Oh God. I knew that on my original post, but then I guess my thought pattern changed. Silly me.
  14. I am not seeing this. At the far left, I just see the stroke and fill. You can create pixel masks on vector objects. Select the layer, object, or group that you want to mask, and then click on the second icon on the bottom of the Layers studio. After doing that, you can delete areas using the eraser and lasso selections while the mask is selected. Just keep in mind that it is only a mask, so any selections cannot move from its position unless you are trying to hide them. They stay as cropped objects. If at any point you want to delete your mask and undo all changes, then click on the second "thumbnail" and press the Delete key. Additionally, you can "clip" pixel brushes on vector objects. Create a new pixel layer and then slide it under the vector object want to add pixel strokes to.
  15. When you select the freehand lasso tool, you have two additional types you can choose from the beginning of the context toolbar. Polygon is one of them.
  16. I had to reread everything on this topic, since it's been a long time since my last reply. Huh. Well that's certainly silly to include that in the video then. Are you familiar at all with bitmap patterns from the fill tool? You can import a design and make a pattern out of it. There is also an option called Power Duplicate that comes pretty handy.
  17. I'm not sure why this might be, but I'll ask about about two possibilities. 1. Are you holding a key when you select objects? Holding Shift or Ctrl? Because Ctrl will select individual objects in a group, which might be why only a child layer becomes active. 2. Also, do you have the objects in an actual group or a nested layer? Both allow objects inside, but layers can be be identified with the blue outline. If they're in layers, they're not actually grouped.
  18. Okay, I am so use to Designer, but now it's time to get the hang of Photo and see what I can get from it. I'll let you know if I find anything buggy or off. I will add that I love the distortion warp tool. That is the tool I was specifically looking forward to. I see it's similar to the distort tool in DrawPlus, but more nodes can be added. Shhweeet!
  19. Printing is something I haven't tested in Designer yet, so it is hard for me to judge on that. If I understand this quote correctly, you are looking into changing the color of all shapes in a single layer rather than each individually. You probably already know this, but in case you don't, you are not working in layers when you first draw objects. They are curves; well adult layers to be exact. If you click the "Add Layer" button, you can move all shapes drawn in that layer to make child layers like Corel. Then clicking on it, you can change all the colors to the different shapes inside it at once, but I have a strange feeling this isn't news to you.
  20. MikeW, I'm interested to hear what you find better in CorelDraw, because I honestly could never get into it. I'm sure there is so much to it that I am unaware of. Even though I feel most comfortable with Affinity, I'm always interested to hear features that compete.
  21. Wow! Even though it is unfortunate for long time Serif users, I did for a long time feel that Serif Labs is Adobe's best competitor. Perhaps this is the chance for them to prove it.
  22. Even though you said Corel Draw X8, I was thinking DrawPlus X8. I knew there was no way the price could be that high. Taking a look at it, the price really fell down. It was $120, but now it's just $25. I do prefer Affinity, but that is still really good to know. And hey, it looks like the prices to all the products dropped. It looks like there will not be any new patches either. Will the Plus range come to a close completely?
  23. I didn't know this topic existed. The width tool is a great tool. I too really want this, and I'll explain why. When multiple shapes are closed, it can be difficult to determine where the paths started when working in the Pressure window. Therefor, knowing where to have the line be skinnier or thicker takes a little long to figure out. A width tool would be able to do it manually. I hope Affinity does pull it off, because I never liked the limitations of it in Illustrator. No brush lines and no live paints.
  24. It is mentioned in the third section on their product page that it does indeed come with updates in the latest version. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/designer/ As for the features you mentioned, line continuation for the pencil tool was said by a staff member that it will arrive in 1.6. It is not listed on the roadmap, but another staff member said that there will be more features to 1.6 than the ones listed as a surprise bonus. For people who purchase 1.5, they can test the new features in 1.6 for free when it arrives (hopefully soon).
  25. Hello, Mark! I just want to congratulate you in finishing the beta. You worked hard and you earn the thanks.
