  1. I saw that and it worked quite well. Thanks.
  2. Grateful for the input. I also wondered if there may be some key combination that would allow me to click anywhere in a dialog box and move it.
  3. Update. All good again. I plugged my external monitor back in, with a new HDMI cable and. The top of the Export panel was on the second display. I'm new to Windows. Is there something about Windows, or Affinity, where a window that crosses displays will always show up in that spot even when the second display is off and unplugged? I assumed that any windows would all migrate back to the sole remaining display. Thanks again.
  4. I have this problem going on again. I'm in Publisher and trying to export to a PDF. The top of the export dialog is off the screen. I've unplugged my external monitor and reset the Studio, to no avail. I've tried different screen scales in System / Display. I'm using an HP Envy with Windows 11. Thanks.
  5. My understanding is that you can install on more than one computer. The caveat, if you're only purchasing one piece of the suite, is that all installations have to be on the same OS (all Mac or all PC). Purchasing a universal license will allow you to install on more than one OS. In may case, I had purchased the universal version which allowed me to transfer from Mac to PC.
  6. Perfect! Thank you for the clarity. All systems are go.
  7. Good day: I have switched from a Mac to a PC. After perusing the forums it appears that an Affinity license cannot be transferred. I purchased an Affinity Universal license in 2023 and a number of add-ons and fonts since. Do I have any options to transfer without repurchasing? Thank you.
  8. Sorry, Ldina. I was thinking Walt might see my comment and reply himself. Thanks for the info.
  9. Walt; is it still the case that a new OS requires a new license for Affinity? Is this also the case for any addons that were purchased for the previous OS? Thanks.
  10. Thanks everyone; comments are appreciated. I'm after portability primarily and a less expensive option. I'm really only tinkering with small projects now, no more vehicle wraps or multi-volume documents. I suppose I haven't written off Apple completely but the last MacBook Pro I had from my employer developed the swollen battery issue. Almost split the thing in two. I'll do some more thinking on it. Thanks again.
  11. I'm a retired graphic designer after 30 years on Macs and I'm giving up my 2017 iMac for a PC laptop (won't bother with the long story why). I'm thinking of a 2 in 1 laptop like a Lenovo Yoga or a HP Envy. The specs read OK but I thought I would reach out here before I make the plunge in the coming days. I'll get a least 16 GB of memory and 1 TB of storage. Is any one else using the Affinity suite on similar devices? I know we all have opinions but are there any specific technical issues I should be wary of? Thanks.
  12. Perfect. I was getting ready to 'tidy up' my workspace anyway so this works really well. I hadn't considered the Studio menu before so this will be nice to have a preset for my panels. Many thanks. Merry Christmas!
  13. Affinity Designer 2. Soon to be replaced iMac running Ventura. Some of my panels have drifted off the edges of my screen. I can't see their headers so I can't close, resize or move them. I can toggle the panels off and on from the menus but they just reopen to their current positions. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  14. Yes to both; Walt. I've attached a PDF cheat sheet from my former career. It has explanations of the use of each grep search plus screen shots of the find/change dialog (I often preached this stuff to other staff). My career was with a provincial government, working with long Word files from departments. Very few people understand long document text flow so I used these particular greps daily. grep affinity.pdf
  15. As I've spent more time with these products I've come to better understanding of the methodology behind the layering. With Design, I've come to appreciate the functionality of its layering. It's very different from my experiences with Adobe but it also works very well once you've adjusted to it. I'll admit I don't spend much time in Publisher since my long document days are behind me so the impacts there are less. Affinity is a different country from Adobe so the ways will also be different. Different is not bad, just different. Overall I'm very happy with my Affinity experience and pitch the software where ever I can. That aside; there are two other areas that Publisher could explore. One is enhancing the GREP find/change. I used this feature a lot with long documents since it's a massive time saver and a great design tool. The other is variable glyph scaling. Publisher already offers variable word and letter spacing. Adding variable glyph scaling in addition would be a bonus. Thanks.
