  1. What do you mean by “updated”? What are you expecting?
  2. I don’t know how the iPad version works but in the regular version it’s in the menu: “Layer > Convert to curves” (you can also right click the object and select “Convert to curves” from the context menu), or via keyboard: Command + Enter.
  3. Now that I look at it again: is there any reason why the toolbars and windows (in separated mode) have drop shadows but the panels don’t? As I said, it is better than before but I’m still wondering (especially since our favorite competitor’s applications have this).
  4. Now I have the time to look at it a little closer. The crashes I reported seem to be gone, thanks. The UI improvements are subtle but they do help; for example the borders around the side panels now make them stand out a little more against windows in the background. I don’t know if the background gradient in the top toolbar in separated mode changed but it feels very natural for the OS now. However, one thing that could still be improved is the contrast/difference of the top area of the window chrome in separated mode of active versus inactive (or foreground vs. background) windows. In AD the only difference between an active window and a window in the background is the colored buttons at the top left. In other applications active windows have a stronger gradient while inactive windows have an apparently flat light gray background at the top (see comparison with system preferences window in the attached screenshots). Another bug I just noticed: I have no idea how this happend or how it can be reproduced but the topmost layer is outside of the viewport of the layers panel and I can’t scroll up any more (see third screenshot). If I expand other layers so they cause an overflow the scrollbar is cut off at the top. And said scrollbar shouldn’t even take any space with my current preference settings and no mouse attached. It should be an overlay scrollbar that only appears on scroll.
  5. I don’t think AD has this functionality implemented, so, as I said, you need to edit the code manually to achieve that.
  6. Ah, you mean after export, when you use the graphic as button you want it to scale from the center on mouseover? That would have to be done in the code of the SVG file; nothing you can do in Designer (I suppose).
  7. The topmost selected object is the first selected, the bottommost is the last. You align all objects to either the first or last one (i. e. the first/last stays where it is and all others are moving), rather than having them all meet in the median point.
  8. Hold the Command key (that’s probably Control in Windows) and drag a handle to resize from the specified center point.
  9. I don’t know if it’s just me but when selecting the pen tool I’m not getting the yellow guideline and the angles aren’t constrained while holding the Shift key. (has been reported already) Hm, I just compared it with the current stable version of AD and it doesn’t recognize the fonts either, and neither does LibreOffice, by the way. But my aging copy of Fireworks CS5 does recognize the fonts. Very strange.
  10. What’s the problem with rectangles instead of paths if they are essentially just rectangles anyway?
  11. Sorry, I confused it. It’s Webdings that’s not recognized. I’ve attached a screenshot; in the background you see FontExplorer with some activated fonts. There you’ll also notice that not only Webdings isn’t recognized but also Wingdings 2, Woodtype Ornaments, and XingKai (a font with chinese characters, I think). Dingbat fonts seem to be particularly problematic. And by the way: I’m loading an AI file. On a side note: the combo box for selecting the font doesn’t really feel very Apple-like, as opposed to the select field next to it; but I’m not 100% sure. https://developer.apple.com/macos/human-interface-guidelines/fields-and-labels/combo-boxes/
  12. Sounds to me like you’re using the wrong approach. You don’t need separate artboards to export separate slices. Also, in the Export Persona you can select layers in the layers panel and create slices for them to export, regardless of where they are located.
  13. By the way, I can send you a crash report, if you’re interested.
  14. Due to the last reply this thread showed up in “My Content” again and that reminds me of another tiny little request that is related to this: Currently (in AD 1.6) it opens and jumps to the layer/object that is clicked, which is exactly what we wanted. But I had to work with a lot of artboards and layers lately and you’ll end up with an endless open tree of layers and objects in the panel. So, how about this: layers/groups/artboards that are opened automatically (by selecting an object on the canvas) should also be closed automatically after the containing objects are deselected. Only if layers etc. are opened manually in the layers panel they should stay open. This would help keep the overview in the layers panel a little more tidy.
  15. Got two bugs to report: While working on a file, navigate back to an earlier stage using the protocol panel Create a snapshot Go back to the protocol panel and drag the slider handle Program crashes In a file with multiple artboards, click an artboard in the layers panel Use the arrow keys to nudge the artboard a little Repeat this process with the other artboards Program crashes at some point
  16. Yeah, while we’re at it: I’d still like to use ⌘-D for “Don’t Save” with a German OS and keyboard layout when closing an unsaved document. All other applications (except LibreOffice, too) do this.
  17. I had a crash when I created a new folder within the export dialog. Also, one other annoyance I notice is that guides are sometimes only shown if I show the grid, but not by themselves. I. e. if I activate the grid I can show and hide guides but not if the grid is inactive.
  18. I’m frequently sitting on the sofa working (or not :D) and MagSafe saved me multiple times. It’s not just that the laptop might fall down, the other problem would be the port/jack being damaged if you accidentally pull a cord really hard. I’ve experienced this with my headphones very often – the headphone jack has/had to withstand major forces.
  19. Have you tried Wikipedia yet? Vector world maps are used in every other article there, there are definitely some templates in SVG format.
  20. Don’t know if it has been mentioned before and/or if it’s just me but two things disturbed my workflow today: The constraints panel had no background when I activated it. It sits in a tab next to the layers panel and clicking the constraints tab to open the settings the desktop could be seen through the panel (the constraints settings were shown but without panel background). Activating a font while AD was open didn’t make it appear in the font selection list. I had to restart for it to take effect.
  21. I agree that the contrast for pressed buttons can be slightly less intense. Perhaps it’s a good idea to orient after Apple’s UI Guidelines. For example, the gradient at the very top of the window doesn’t feel right. And these subtle differences, also in other places, make the whole experience a little unsatisfying. Also, note my other post about the contrast of the studio panels against other windows in the background.
  22. And to be fair, the artboard icon is actually centered, it’s just not symmetric. And so is the pen icon. Yes, theoretically one could add some transparent pixels to make it appear more centered even though it would technically be off-center but looking at the actual UI of the application I wouldn’t notice these misalignments with my bare eyes, so that’s kind of nit-picking at the moment.
