  1. I’m experiencing a problem with stroke pressure reset. The user manual says to tap the chart to reset. It doesn’t work in my copy of V2. V2 works fine. The only thing I’ve found to do is start a few curve and push all the points to the top and the individual added points to the side. Thanks for any help. Added, later the same day. I discovered that in V2, iPad I need to tap or double tap a node in order to reset the curve. Slightly different than V1. I welcome any additional comments or suggestions. Thanks to all and have a blessed day.

  2. I've watched the majority of the official Affinity Photo videos and all of Simon Foster's UDEMY videos.  Some tutorials I could immediately apply.  What I found helpful for my particular workflow was to start on a project until I got stuck and then go back and look for the specific Affinity videos that covered my problem area.  Another approach that has worked for me is to locate a Photoshop of Lightroom process video on YouTube or even UDEMY that interested me and set out to duplicate the work with Affinity Photo by going back to Affinity Photo videos or Drippy Cat tutorials.  Most of the time this has been very successful.  There is a lot to learn and the process of doing so is rewarding.

  3. Good Morning,

I have been looking for a way to create a Gaussian blur gradient.  That is to say slightly blurred on one end of an object and progressively becoming more blurred toward the other end of the object.  Specifically a shadow of an object (pole) composted into a photo.  I have been told that there is a way to accomplish this in PhotoShop using a channel selection and applying a gradient to the selection.  Is this possible with Affinity Photo?  If so how.

Thank you. Paul, Ocala, Florida, USA

  4. Hi,

I ran into the same problem working through the tutorials.  Contacted the Forum and received the following answer:

    Hi PaulDean,

    Welcome to Affinity Forums  :)

This is due to a bug that prevents the boolean operation Add to work properly (already logged).

To "fix" your project do the following:

    - select the shape on the top (the large one)

    - change to the Node tool and drag a marquee around all nodes of the shape

    - click on the Smooth button in the Convert section on the context toolbar

You can now perform the add operation as indicated in the tutorial, selecting both shapes and pressing and holding ⌥ (option/alt) while clicking on the add icon.

    The result should be correct.

This 'fixed' the problem and I went on and completed most of the tutorials.  Hope it helps.

  5. Good Morning folks,

Thanks for the group of Affinity Designer tutorials.  I've watched all of them.  Now, I'm working through them step-by -step.  I am working with the tutorial titled 'For Beginners Too'. I've ran into a problem.  I've reached the point where two objects are to be combined - the blood on top with the blood dripping down - in order to edit them as a single group.  The tutorial instructs me to select both objects, then to hold down the alt/option key then click on the first combine icon with the '+' sign on it.  My results differ from the tutorial (see attached screen shot).  I don't have the one combined object with separate editable components.  What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for your help,

    Paul Ocala, Florida

  6. I have been working with Affinity Photo for a few weeks now.  I was introduced to it through the Apps Store.  I bought it and opened it up.  After looking around for just a few moments I closed it and started looking for a manual or other instructions.  From the Affinity web site I found the Forums section and from there, the instructional videos.

I can identify with some of the "newbie" folks that key in very confused with what is what on the fabulous AP software.  I can suggest trying what I did.  I viewed EVERY Affinity Forum video tutorial, more than once.  Then after each one, I practiced what I saw until I understood all the ins and outs.  I also located YouTube videos and did the same thing, even the ones in German.  With these, I Killed the sound and ran them at half speed so not to miss a move.  (Now, some are coming in with english subtitles.)  All of this worked very well for someone who had never worked with PhotoShop.

I have now purchased Affinity Designer.  Me, with out a lick of artistic talent.  I'm going through all the tutorials just as I did with AP.  Maybe something will ware off from one of the expert designers or illustrators.  Thank you all very much.
