Canvas rotation is a must for sketching, illustrating and editing photos with a pen display or graphics tablet.
Traditionally when drawing on paper, the paper is usually rotated, many people do it all the time. On the computer you would rotate the canvas instead.

Unfortunately no, I've been looking for a canvas rotation tool for so long, there are many people in this forum who want a simple canvas rotation like in Photoshop, but nothing happened.
My workaround is to use the shortcut for left and right rotation. For example A and Y.

Hi BrianHermelijn,
Windows touchpad doesn't offer support for rotation as on macOS so it will not be possible to use it for this purpose but we are looking into ways to improve things here (freely rotate the canvas) for both macOS and Windows users (besides the touchpad). I can't give you an eta though, sorry.

It would be nice if Affinity Photo also have an Rotate view tool like in Photoshop.
Click R or rotate button to rotate.

... or you could just not bother.
Being able to freely rotate the canvas is a must for people who rely on free-handed drawing workflows and there's no way I'm running a marathon of illustration with this rock in my shoe.

I already did the workaround by mapping the shortcut for left and right rotation to my keyboard, it is working, but not as convenient, as in other programs.

You can rotate the canvas now, View menu, rotate left, rotate right. It's not a free rotation (as we don't have a tool for it), but if you have a Surface Dial, we allow free canvas rotation when using that.

The news we got on having this feature was that Affinity on Windows needs GPU acceleration before it is possible to create a similar tool like in Photoshop. GPU acceleration is in the works, so we'll see what kind of priority a rotation tool will have after that is implemented.

From the Document Menu you can find the rotate and flip options along with the handy shortcuts
