Probably because it can only work with flat images, and native Affinity files may be multi-layered.

Probably for the same reason it won't import PDF or PSD files either.

Hi Michael Harvey :)

The above information is correct, Affinitys panorama stitcher requires flat images (such as JPEGs) in order to create a panorama.

I'll move this thread to our Feedback section of the forums for our devs to see and consider implementing .afphoto compatibility in the future!

Hi,

I was just trying to find something about the very same question.

The tutorial video:  Affinity Photo - Panoramas states  (at 00:32) that "you can even stitch Affinity document files" ... are'nt they *.afphoto files?

BTW. Affinity tutorials are very good.

Thanks for pointing this out, unfortunately the tutorial is incorrect here, and the documentation team have been made aware of this - we'll look at editing/reshooting the video in the future!
