Not sure if 1.7.2 will fix this, but I am designing a catalog, and because the linked files were causing it to crash, I had to embed the images. The file is now over 1gb (and increasing, but its still small for a catalog), and it is taking a long time to even make minor changes. Last night it took about an hour to export to PDF.

Is this going to be improved in 1.7.2? So far I'm loving the features of Publisher, but this project has me concerned.

Even with a large file, an hour to export to PDF is quite a bit more than I would expect, linked/embedded images won't affect how long this takes as far as I know.

Can you test the export/performance in the latest beta and let me know if it's any better? If not upload the file here and I can test the export times and so forth.

Thanks

Can this version be used on Mac? When I tried to install it it says something about "cannot open because Windows apps are not supported on the Mac."

Thank you! It looks like this one takes about 11 minutes to export. Definitely a lot better, but still a little slow (I'm not sure if this is reasonable, but I would hope for 2-3 minutes).

If you want to upload the file to the above dropbox link I can take a look and see what export times are like on a few machines here

So I've looked into your document, it contains a lot of high resolution images placed at a low resolution. This is creating a fair amount of load and when exporting for print I get some quite slow export times like yourself.

I'm not convinced we can do much here, you will find app performance and export times improve if you optimize the images before embedding them. Hundreds of images that are 4k x 5k in size and placed at a 400x500 size is creating a lot of unnecessary work for the app.
