Templates and Education

I am using the whole Affinity suite at the moment and I am very impressed.

However, the lack of basic document templates in Publisher seems a little strange. I am not looking at pre-populated designs. I refer to the basic, blank document templates as in the image below.

Without templates, we wouldn't consider rolling out Publisher across the school for student use. We still use Seif Page Plus X9 with our students and the base templates here allow us to concentrate on the design and layout without spending valuable time reinventing the wheel every time we start a topic.

Perhaps templates for Publisher are something worth considering? If Publisher could directly import Page Plus X9 documents this would solve the problem.

This is a very common request, but it seems it is highly unlikely to happen, please see this (long) thread which includes the official answer from Serif staff.

As to your principal question, about Templates: why not export to pdf the templates you use in PP X9 and import them into AfPub?  I have done this successfully with those I needed to transfer (some tweaking was needed once imported) but they could then be saved as .afpub files and used in the app.

While I agree that templates would be nice, you don't need to do the setup every time. Just set up blank documents in the format you want them, save them, then reuse them as needed. Once you've created an original, you just keep using copies, effectively as templates!
