JLDel
In MS Publisher (PC), MS Word (PC/Mac), MS Powerpoint (PC/Mac), and even in a similar way in Graphic Converter (Mac), there is an ability to make one color in an image become the designated transparent color (i.e., select the color white as the transparent color in your image -- just by clicking on it -- and everything white become transparent; you can then see whatever is behind the formerly white areas of your image). Is there a simple way to do this in Affinity Publisher? I tried the Transparency editor but that seem to do absolutely nothing other than change colors shading when I drag the tool handle around. I am sure setting transparency is probably an easy thing to do in Affinity Publisher, but I just can't figure out how to do this. I did use the help files for transparency, transparency editor, etc -- it was quite confusing and gave advice like (and I paraphrase), "just do what you do when you change gradients, but do it with the transparency tool." I'm new to this product (having used Publisher on PC, Swift Publisher on Mac), and want to convert my many layouts over to Affinity (which is on both Mac and PC) -- any help on this question would be appreciated. Thanks!
Dan C
Hi JLDel, Welcome to the forums Unfortunately this isn't an option in Publisher currently, I'll move this thread to Feature Requests and Feedback for our devs to see and consider! If you have StudioLink to Photo in Publisher, you can use Filters>Colours>Erase White Paper, however this only works on an image by image basis and only for White, you cannot set the transparent colour here, apologies. Fixx
In the old days selecting a colour to be transparent was the way to do gifs. Nowadays, if you want something to be transparent, well make it transparent! Remove or mask that colour! I am not sure why Publisher needs to make transparent graphics as it is meant to print designs to (non-transparent) paper, but you can do it. Set it in Document Setup > Colour.
